I stumbled across an unlimited pirate spawn bug in The Skellige Isles. There’s a spot near the edge of a cliff where two L14 pirates will spawn over and over each time you kill them and then move ten or so feet away from the spawn point. Since I’m so starved for XP, I farmed it for a couple hundred points. When I was done, the piles and piles of the same two pirates reminded me of Triangle.
No, they found the problem. The initial idea was to publish the fix as a hotfix, but they decided to add it to the upcoming patch 1.05, along with plenty of other fixes. While there’s no ETA, it’s very likely that the update will be made available for PC this week.

Well I have finished the Bloody Baron quest chain and can now to to the next area, Novigrad I think. I am level 11 atm. I have done quite a bit of the main map but there is still so much to do still, I am about to finish the Quest with Keira after finally getting it on with her.
So should I move on or is it worth filling in a bit more and am I at risk of getting no XP now ont he lower level quests. It seems to me I have recently started to gain levels a bit quicker than at the start
Would you trust this man if you meet him in a street at night?
This may be one of those times where professional software developers have trouble relating to OCD gamers. There is little downside to missing XP. For those of us who prefer not to be too high of a level, it’s actually a great thing.
The new DLC is available. You might have to restart GOG Galaxy to get the checkboxes to appear under the configure menu.
I just did this quest like an hour ago.
Laughed my ass off. “Oh no, not carmine avenger…!”
This game is funnier than most comic games I’ve played, while also dramatic, touching and brutal when needed.

Thanks, I’m familiar with glasses, having worn corrective lenses since being 6 years old and having eyesight bad enough to have legal ramifications. Mocking people for their disabilities is always classy. I assume you also yell “learn to walk, n00b” to any people you happen to spot in a wheelchair?
But the font size is clearly a problem for a lot of people, not just for me. There are NeoGaf and Reddit threads with hundreds of messages, including messages from people with very good vision [1] [2]. People didn’t complain this much even of the tiny scribbles in the Paradox games. And CDPR is tacitly admitting the problem by fixing it on consoles. It’s just that for some reason the holier than thou champions of PC gaming are apparently refusing to also make that change in the PC version. This really isn’t cool.

Uh. Forget about beating Fiends, Leshens and uber-elves from another world. The real challenge is in Passiflora, in the High Stake tournament. 3 tries, 3 times I failed in the first round! And I defeated the last characters in the Gwent quest without effort, but this is another level.
http://witcher3map.com has been updated, now it was Skellige too.

I agree with the fact that it’s a problem. I had to move my chair forward in my living room to read stuff, which is kind of ridiculous.
But I’m not quite understanding why you’re all mad about it, given that they are fixing it?

Outrage is the default tone of the internet. The server hamsters have long since died, we must now power the interwebs through the power of our hate alone.
Really, it’s only the non-OCD who have a substantial reason to complain. If you’re doing the side quests and contracts that are your level, the game has the opposite problem: there’s too much XP, even with the bug. For a while there I was struggling to keep the main quest line from going gray because I had outpaced it.
The only folks the bug will actually have a significant negative effect on are those who are skipping all the side stuff and doing only the main quest lines. And even there I think it’s more about the timing of the leveling than the amount of leveling itself. Finishing off the Novigrad quest chain I got enough XP to go up an entire level from 15 to 17 in about 20 minutes.
(Based on what I’ve seen online about the quests effected I think it’s possible that at some point they broke down broke one giant Novigrad quest chain into multiple chains, but forgot/didn’t bother to give every sub-chain XP when they did it. Hence no XP for some Novigrad quests but a giant helping of XP at the end.)

Bugs and misfeatures happen, that’s nothing to get mad about. Like I wrote in the previous message my expectation was that they’d indeed patch a problem like this fairly promptly. The problem is that they are not fixing it. They are in fact going out of their way to do extra work to not fix it, by doing separate changes to the console versions vs. the PC version. To quote from the patch notes (emphasis mine):
Significantly Enlarged GUI and HUD elements (including fonts) on consoles and slightly on PC.
This is not fundamentally a console issue, and I don’t understand why they’re treating it as such. The actual key distinction is TV+couch vs. a monitor+chair. The appropriate font size for a console user sitting a couple of meters from a large TV is the same as for a PC user sitting the same distance from a similar TV.

Eh, so you’re just afraid that they won’t be increased enough on the PC? May want to wait and see before assuming they aren’t fixing it enough.
I believe that the reason why the font is being increased signficantly on the consoles is that there’s no ability to adjust the resolution, and the interface isn’t really moddable. I think you actually can modify some of that on the PC version.

If there’s an appropriate font size for the PS4 version, it’s also going to be the appropriate font size for me on the PC. I am quite sure that a “slight” increase will not be sufficient, when they’ve already determined that console users need a “significant” increase.

Changing the resolution doesn’t help, they scale the UI components to take up the same proportion of the screen no matter what the resolution. The HUD size can only be decreased, not increased. (But it is indeed an option, which just makes this stranger; this doesn’t need to be a tradeoff between the text being too large for monitor users or too small for TV users).
I hope they don’t increase the font size too much on the PC or at least make it optional. The PC font size is perfect for me. I hate huge fonts in PC games. I understand why it needs to be done for consoles.
jsnell’s head just exploded. :)
HTPC gaming is new for everyone. They probably just didn’t think about it. They are savants, not geniuses.
Holy crap yes, fix the font sizes. I have been sitting indian style in front of the TV to play this game.
