http://witcher3map.com/ , click “hide all” then on “gwent player”. Though you’ll still need to remember which merchants you’ve already fleeced.

Heh. I also decided to get to the finish sooner than later, since 1) I want to be able to discuss it, and 2) Batman Arkham Knight and DMC4SE are right around the corner.

I’ve been trying to win at Gwent at all the vendors but no luck yet. Even the tutorial guy beat me. So victories for me yet. But you all just said you get better cards by beating these vendors? Interesting. So the way to get better cards is to first get good enough with the cards you have and the cards you buy at vendor’s I guess. But I haven’t been able to make more than the price for repairing my armor and weapons, so no cards bought for me yet.

Not that it bothers me. I don’t really enjoy Gwent. Maybe because I’m so bad at it?

You are, indeed, bad. I mean, at least you should be able to win the tutorial guy :P.

Are you using the weather cards right? If you have a, for example, fog card and have melee and ranged units, you have to coordinate the use of the fog card with the fact you are going to play the two rounds. In other words, play the melee and the fog card in one round, and the ranged units in the other round.

I’m really damn sick of fighting Wraiths in enclosed areas.

Use Yrden, and stay in its area. When a wraith disappears, get prepared to dodge (when they reappear attacking you) and attack right after. If multiple wraiths are around, don’t forget to use Quen (alternate if possible). Remember your bombs - one of the bombs forces wraiths to stay in corporeal form, and that makes the fight a lot easier.

Aw come on. You know you can’t play the Tutorial guy a second time. You only get one shot. And that first time, I used all the cards I had. So I lost the second and third round when they told me that I had to win two rounds and couldn’t get new cards. :)

I didn’t know you can’t play the tutorial guy a second time!

Anyone else played around with other languages besides English? I’ve tried Polish, Russian, and German, and the Russian voice acting is easily my favorite of the lot–especially the actor playing Geralt.

Pretty much how I feel. I think I’m toward the game’s end and have absolutely loved every hour spent so far. Read the first two books while on vacation and those have helped me appreciate the relationship(s) between certain characters, though I think I might’ve screwed myself a bit on the romance side, but I’ll wait until I find out for certain before writing about it.

I was riding through Velen today at level 24 looking for Gwent opponents. I rode up on a group of level 5 bandits that tried to take me out. I threw one bomb into the middle of the group and every single one of them exploded into gibs.

Non-spoiler removed lest it spur actual spoilery talk.

Talk of the ending even in vague generalities might be better done in the spoiler thread.

Didn’t even notice that there was one. Off I go.

Holy hell, just met the Crones, and they might be some of the best, most nightmarish character designs I’ve seen. Absolutely love it. I’m 26 hours in and this is easily one of the best games I’ve ever played.

I’m 36 hours in and also just “met” the Crones.

One little trick I’ve discovered is that even though the game is 3rd person, you can bring the camera in quite close to Geralt in an over-the-shoulder camera closer to one used in the Gears of War series. It’s still not first person, but it feels a lot more intimate. You feel closer to the action, and you see the world a lot closer to ground level from Geralt’s eyes. I love it. Unfortunately, the only way to do it is to carry too much stuff around and get overburdened. Which means you can’t run. But again, not being able to run also increases my immersion into this wonderful world. So I’m all in on the overburdened method of experiencing Velen. The camera still pulls back for the combat, and you can still make your way around the world quickly by riding Roach. So it’s all good. I’d recommend it to everyone who misses the lack of first person.

Nor did I, which is probably why I did play him a second time. We are talking about the guy in the first inn, right?

As far as I remember you could play him as much as you liked but when you left the area, he would disappear too. They later fixed that by letting merchants stock the card(s) he had.

So that would explain the “can’t play him a second time” thing, because you can’t if you leave the area.

Anybody got any hot tips for getting red mutagens? I’m up to my ears in blue and greens but I want red ones!

That would indeed explain it. As for getting cards from merchants: is there any way, other then remembering, to know which of the cards on offer I allready own? So far, I find I don’t have enough money to just buy all of them without thinking about it, so I have to check all the time, which means leaving the shop inventory etc…
