What’s crazy about this game is no matter how much they increase the stakes, everything stays pretty even-keeled. If this were produced by EA, by now I’d have been on 10 different climactic roller coaster rides with explosions everywhere.
This game is amazing and gorgeous.
I am 23 hours in, level 4.5 and just finished the ‘Wandering in the Dark’ quest. I find myself just walking everywhere because it looks so awesome. This is going to take very long time…
Just remembered this; Be careful if you buy one or more of those “skill reset” potions and you usually stock food in your quick access slot. When you run out of food it will automatically switch to that potion, so at several points in the game I accidentally reset all my skills during a fight…
Absolutely. 85 hours in and I still feel the need to gush to whomever’ll listen!

I admit to buying The Wolven Storm on itunes which is the priscilla song.
I am playing on easy level as the fighting isnt key to me but the storyline is.
I use Fast Travel more than I thought I do and only ride the old donkey when it seems a long way to run. Novigrad really doesn’t work on a horse either. Doesn’t seem right to be riding round the town.
Just arrived in Skellige, seems weird they all have irish accents.
How to obtain an Enhanced Saddle before usual
Just arrived in Skellige, seems weird they all have irish accents.
Northern Irish, specifically. Which I really liked because a) it’s not an accent you hear all that much in games, and b) it gave them a stronger sense of identity than most locations.
That’s already where I got mine. I thought everyone would get it there, since it’s a location you’re required to be as part of the story, and doesn’t everyone search places with Detective vision and find places like that?
I totally missed using the Detective vision in that particular area.
I really liked the accent, though I’m not British, for them maybe it’s too familiar to take it seriously.
It was a little jarring at first, because you don’t normally associate Vikings with the Irish, but I don’t think people would have problems taking it seriously.
I finished the game Sat night and didn’t even know those existed.
I love the whirl skill :)
I’m curious about them as well now. I like the choices I’ve made so far (just hit level 10), but the idea of resetting the skills is an intriguing one.
Do want, but now I am miles away :(
I want this more though!
I remember reading that Whirl trivialzes the combat, but it looks fun enough I might as well try it! I think I have 14 level up points I haven’t even bothered to place.
The stupid main quest hands out experience for nothing. So many level 20 contracts that will be trivial now after I finish the game. :(
Dumb, dumb CDPR.
Though of course there is a connection, the Vikings having first raided and then settled Ireland (founding Dublin, amongst other towns.)
Bonus trivia: the real Skellig islands are west of County Kerry.
Between that, and that the elven language is based on Welsh, I think the entire Witcher world is a mix of Polish/Eastern Europe myths in a fantasy Britain, lol.
Missed an opportunity to have a quest about puffins.
Twelve foot tall carnivorous puffins. Nightmare fuel.
