We need Witcher 3: Dating Sim!

I’m still in Novigrad and doing some of the Triss side quests and at this point I don’t know how I could NOT choose Triss at this point. The romance in the game is done so much better than the bioware stuff.

I really really like Triss very much. I do. But it’s just no contest. Yennefer is more nuanced and interesting as a person, to me. And dat 20 year history…
Plus it helps that CDP managed to make her even more beautiful than my imagination did when reading the books :)

And a bit goofier one :)

Well that’s a bit easier. Definitely a frustration figuring out if you have the DLC or not (I probably installed several multiple times by now). Surprised that the beta of Galaxy hasn’t been updated in a long while.

This may be a minor spoiler but it ought to be said: the Triss romance simply isn’t fleshed out as well as the relationship with Yennefer. This isn’t a Bioware game where you have 4 equally valid options that play out the same way. If you wrap up Novigrad before starting Skellige, you might be disappointed.

Just remember, “Now or Never” is no joke, and “I love you” is for real.

I dunno - I think there’s probably a disconnect between people who have read the books and those who have just played the games, though. I mean, you’ve had two previous games of sexing up Triss while Yennefer is basically absent. It’s like if your femshep had to choose between Garrus and Javik and everybody was like “oh man, you and Javik have such a deep history together in the books, it’s like you were made for each other.” And you’re like, Javik who? That guy seems like a dick.

Yeah having only played the games I’m Team Triss forever! However I just finished up Now or Never (which was amazing and by far the best romance quest/story I’ve played in a game since Prince of Persia) but I’m a little worried that it will be the last interaction they get for the game. Please tell me there’s more to Triss in this game.

OK - playing on the PS4, and this is the first Witcher I’ve been able to get to, and I am REALLY getting into it. For me, the key was turning off the question marks.

Gwent didn’t really do anything for me, I’ve never been a deck building player. But dammit, now I’m starting to get into it. I left White Orchid without buying any cards etc. - are all the cards for sale outside of their non-Northern Realms ones? Since I’m new to deck building I’m trying to just stick with the one deck but I don’t see many cards for it. Also, why do I no longer have the option to use my leader option? (I only have the first Foltest guy so far.) But I have been winning some games, mainly my strategy is to get the other guy to use key cards in round one, let him have it, then try to win the next two. The decoy card is great for that. But my deck is still pretty weak. Dammit - can’t believe I’ve gotten into that!

I’m still only level 6, running around Velen, doing the Baron’s quest and other ones I pick up here and there. Just started exploring the grave for the Griffin armor collection quest.

AND I just realized that not all DLC is automatically installed on the PS4. Not sure why some is and some isn’t but I found several (including the Wolf armor) that had not been installed. Also, the upgrade installed today, it said 1.06 for PS4, but when I look at the menu in W3 after the upgrade install it still says 1.05.

Xbox upgraded to 1.05 today, so I suspect PS4 is the same.

I finished the Bloody Baron’s main quests, which had such a bizarre ending. I don’t mean the quests themselves, which were beautiful. I mean after we were done talking about that and we’d said our goodbye’s, someone walked into the room. It was almost like a comedy skit and seems so bizarre and out of place after we’d been having such a sober conversation for over half an hour.

I had the same reaction. Without saying anything more, there’s a reason for that scene - but it is crazily shoehorned in, as if they had cut a section of broader content and had to put it in somewhere else.

Also very tone deaf to just let you offer to play a rousing round of Gwent in the middle of things, but hey - everybody loves Gwent, right?

Um, I tried to tell you. Anyway just go play.

Yeah I think Yen comes across as a real bitch, so I went with Triss but it seems clear Yen is not only the lore choice but the expected choice based on the content going forward from Novigrad on. That said there are some pretty funny convos between Geralt and Yen later in the game if you actually break up with her when given the dialogue choice.

I never read the books, and Triss seems to be a no-brainer. I didn’t let her sail away in Novigrad. Still a long way to go, I haven’t been to Skellige, but Yen doesn’t seem very interesting. I’m also not really in this for romance, although I do appreciate how well it’s handled.

Speaking of Skellige, is there a quest or series of quests which finally breaks open the vault doors in this game? I need to raise a thousand coins to pay for the ship ride, and the thought of hustling job board gigs is a bit onerous.

CDPR did a pretty good job with Yennefer. She starts off kind of bitchy, but the relationship morphs into one of those catty/combative ones where you know they’re still right for each other.

I don’t agree, I’m definitely on the Triss side but if I couldn’t have her, I’d have neither. (in a game context, who wouldn’t a hot sorcerer woman irl, imagine the savings on airfare)

I really wish the main quests weren’t so god damn generous with their doling out of experience. The Witcher contracts and secondary quests seem to be perfectly balanced in advancing Geralt slowly through the ranks as he explores the vast world of Velen. But then you throw in the main quests, and bam, suddenly Geralt is too powerful.

I haven’t had a challenging fight for over a week now. I think it might be time to raise the difficulty from the 2nd level to the 3rd, maybe even the fourth level.

I think that’s a given.

To get to Skellige you might be able to borrow enough from Vivaldi. Then when in Skellige the map is riddled with smugglers caches in the water. Go grab 6 of those (you can be encumbered and still swim and get into your boat) and you can make back the money easily, though it is tedious and probably less fun than monster contracts.

You probably removed the fog card from your active deck.

Hmm. I thought I only removed one of them (I had two, and I was getting too many weather cards in my playing set.) I’ll look, thanks. Though I’d sure prefer a leader who gave me something else.

Well, just for the reason you describe (too many weather cards in your playing set), an ability like Foltests can be very usefull sometimes…
