Ahhhhhh…

I only just realized that the map I was thinking was just Velen also included Novigrad, so maybe the game is not quite as intimidatingly massive as I had initially thought. Given how dense the content is, that’s probably a good thing.

Yeah, I would’ve liked it to be a better curve. When I gained TWO levels for completing a quest… at like level 24 or something, I really felt it was too much. I get why they did it, but I didn’t care for it. I’d love to have an option to smooth out the xp curve.

Yeah, the surrounding areas of Novigrad are also relatively bare compared to Velen. The game is still pretty ridiculous. I skipped a ton of stuff in Skellige and I still got more than my fill. And that’s without factoring in DLC, etc.

I used to think like that. Then I noticed how much time I needed just to scroll from one side of the map to the other.

Oh! So that huge city I just saw in the north of Velen is not part of Velen?

Since I have started playing Gwent, which I intended to skip, I went back to White Orchid to try to get the other Foltest leader card. The innkeeper was nowhere to be found. :( BUT the merchant in town near the bridge had the card, so bought it from him.

I also went back to the place where you had the Imperial audience, to find that saddle, found the brick, but there was no saddle or saddle bags in the secret room. :( BUT I played that guy in the courtyard - first two times I played him, he kicked my ass (I have a pretty weak deck, and he had cards with much higher values than any in my hand) but somehow beat him, and got the 3rd Foltest leader card. Cool.

Problem is, I play a Northern Realms deck, and it seems like once I left White Orchid no one has Northern Realms cards. :(

There are plenty of neutral or NR cards to be found. I beat everything in the game with the NR deck and didn’t even try to play the other decks. For example, monster deck, that is so easily hurt by weather cards.

Get the Foltest siege leader and it’s pretty easy from there, imho.

Now they’ve kind of aced the open world, I wonder what they can effortlessly dispatch next. First person, parties, companions…

I was profoundly disappointed the herbalist with the booty in White Orchard wasn’t romanceable.

Yeah, she’s the one I wanted to try to win over. :)

I thought it was kind of hilarious how much ass Geralt got in the first game, even having sex with vampires and a dryad. In Witcher 3 the herbalist was the first of many where I thought Geralt was totally going to get laid and then nothing happened.

Oh ho ho fencing lessons huh? I see where this is going…oh fencing lessons. Now they are pissed at each other, alright.

Some people from Skellige have taken over our brothel heeellllp us! Thanks master Witcher, our sisters are ready to reward you, with coin. We pooled our money for your reward, here it is: 15 gold. Waitaminute…15 gold. It takes 20 gold to hire you. You are literally giving 3/4ths of a fuck. And it was pooled between everyone.

Finally, a succubus. Time to get your freak on Geralt. There is absolutely no way this can end without even being given the option for…

I love how there is still an NPC that says something like “Hide your women, there’s a witcher about!” No need bro, nothing is going to happen.

The fencing lessons one…I would have lost money betting on whether that was going to lead to a hook up.

I liked how much that little quest defied expectations. Especially with how likeable Var Attre seemed to be…at first.

Is there a way to adjust the field of view for the pc version of this game? I just started playing this and the FOV is killing me. I found the config file but do not see a FOV entry (this does not mean there isn’t one). Some googling has people talking about a cheat engine that can do it, but others say it doesn’t work. I am also not so sure I want to run random crap I download as admin.

Id love to find a setting I can change in a file, but if not, Ill download that cheat engine.

Do you mean general gameplay or the ‘you must walk slowly’ sections (I think the game starts in one of these)? FOV is really low in the latter but otherwise it’s fine. Fwiw, CheatEngine is safe to use.

I tried cheat engine, but there were warnings about cut scenes and scripted events. These totally do not work for me. I am in the combat tutorial and the npc trainer guy doesn’t move, also in the previous race with the girl, she never moved too. He will not attack me so I can’t proceed through the tutorial.

As far as the FOV, in the starting area with the bath tub, just turning the camera around made me feel queasy. Now it looks like I can’t even use this cheat engine cause it breaks other things. Maybe Ill get used to the default FoV or maybe I just burned a bunch of money on a game I can’t play. It is inexcusable that they do not have a FoV setting in the game.

Well it certainly never felt like FoV was an issue, more that there isn’t much camera moveability.

Also no way will you like Geralts right click special view, now that is restricted.

It’s funny, if I don’t go after Witcher Gear quests, then I can get several quests done in a 30 minute play session. Or at least one. But with first with the Griffin gear, and now with the Cat Gear, the Gear quests are multi-part, multi-hour marathons. The end result, in terms of loot, doesn’t really seem worth it, considering how long it takes to acquire. But I enjoy the exploration and the combat, and the mini-stories associated with each one, so in that respect, I guess they’re worth it.

But if I ever do replay this game, I’m definitely skipping the Witcher Gear quests.

The Cat gear was worth it just so you don’t look like a clown when wearing light armor.

But with first with the Griffin gear, and now with the Cat Gear, the Gear quests are multi-part, multi-hour marathons.

I’ve only done the Griffin gear (all versions) and one piece of cat and bear gear (by accident), but this really hasn’t been my experience. A single set of gear takes maybe an hour tops, more often 20 minutes. And it’s always better than equivalent level non-set gear, even before the set bonuses and skill bonus. With those, it remains better than the alternatives for a good 8 or 9 levels.
