I felt the same way in regards to how it changed my impression DAI. DAI was also developed for last generation systems but many of its systems (character animation, story, dialog, mechanics, pointlessness of the horse) feel downright primitive when compared to TW3.

I think the PR is more along the lines of mitigating the customer disappointment/outrage over their initial announcement of the paid expansions, when previously everything had been free. They have to release a bunch of free stuff to maintain their rep.

But at the same time, we’re at a little over a month after launch and now we’re getting additional finishing moves for Geralt’s combat. Why not make that the first or second DLC? Why the 15th?

Save the best for last? Maybe the animations weren’t done until recently - the animators could have been working on the patches, or maybe most of them got moved to Cyberpunk and you have 1 intern working on the new moves. ;)

You guys are killing me. Or helping me. Maybe I will just put DAI into my deep backlog. (Yes, this a thing; it’s dark there.) Heck, I was planning to skip Fallout 4 to spend time elsewhere, and I’m sure it would be the better game.

I think I am on the final quest of the main story, Avallac’h told me that shit will get real as soon as I say lets go. But I will save that for another day. Overall I am at 116 hours played.

Oh and me and Yen chilling before we head out, my Master crafted Ursine Armor and her alternative outfit look mighty fine. :)

DA:I is still worth playing in my opinion, if you enjoy the story and characters (which I did). The battle system isn’t that great, but the maps are fun to explore.

If it makes you feel better Tim, I tried to play Risen 3 after W3. It didn’t go so well.

DAI is the poor man’s W3. A long, poor, man.

You remember how the Soviet Union used to have clunky copies of Western technology? DAI is kind of that with respect to W3.

Let me say again - Witcher 1 ruined Jade Empire for me, so I’d advise people to not play Bioware games right after Witcher games. You should be fine playing them some time in the future though. ;)

Lighthouses. Why the hell do I ever go near lighthouses.

I feel like they had the DLCs done a long time ago and are just releasing them incrementally to stay in the news. That may not be the case, but that is my take.

After being disappointed in the book The Last Wish, I’m enjoying Blood of Elves much more. I’m only about 25% in but I’m interested in seeing where it’s going.

It would be best to read Sword of Destiny before Blood of Elves if at all possible. Just saying.

I don’t think the English version was available when I bought Blood of Elves and I didn’t realize it came out before I started reading it. Since Sword of Destiny is short stories maybe I wouldn’t have liked as I didn’t really like The Last Wish.

I enjoyed The Last Wish (listened to the brilliantly narrated Audible audiobook during my commute), and I’m reading Sword of Destiny now on my Kindle. And playing tons of Witcher 3. So cool to have such well-written stories in the universe. (As opposed to the typical drek of most licensed novels.)

But man, I am spending way too many of my waking hours in this universe. Doesn’t help that this may be my favorite RPG ever.

I found Sword of Destiny significantly better than The Last Wish. That’s probably at least partially due to it being translated by a different person (the English translator of the series changed after Last Wish and Blood of Elves), but I also found the stories to be better written and generally more interesting. I think it’s an important read that delves further into who Geralt is and his relationships with Yen and other characters (and most importantly introduces
an important character

Ciri

). I think every story in it is referenced by the games in some way too, so that can be pretty fun.

Sword of Destiny is amazing. I love the saga, sure, but SoD is my favourite Witcher book. There are moments in it…ah, memories.

Also, one of its short stories takes place in Novigrad…and arriving to Novigrad in Witcher 3 will be significantly more impactful if you read that story.

Get the fan translation, it should be good.

This is not exactly legal, but most of the books ARE on youtube as audiobooks if anyone is interested…

Don’t get the fan translation, the official one is better.

So even though I’m 25% into Blood of Elves, you think I should stop reading it and switch to Sword of Destiny?
