The only thing that bothers me a bit in this game is when they use the same model for prominent characters again and again. It makes me think “hey, that woman looks just like the one who screwed me over in that last town!” But then I calm down and realize that it’s just a side effect of re-using art assets, which is okay, but it seems to me that they had enough diversity in assets that they maybe could have kept prominent characters in quests not to repeat if they’d paid that more attention.
I just unlocked “The Last Wish” as a quest, which many of you talked about above. I’m kind of sad that the main quest branch ended so quickly in Skillege.
The patch is out, and of course GOG Galaxy is having problems with it.
Yeah, GOG Galaxy has been stuck on ‘allocating disk space’ for a long time. It’s on a SSD. Also says it needs to allocate 17GB – all my free DLC seem to have been uninstalled and regrouped under an uninstalled ‘Free DLC’ option.
Fun times.
I am constantly wishing I had the Steam version of this over the GOG version. The patch stuff is the latest, but I’m also annoyed I can’t seem to buy just this DLC separately - if I want it I have to pick up the Season Pass for $25 on GOG. Dumb.
Took about 15 minutes to allocate patch space on a 850 EVO SSD. lol. Now GOG is downloading 17GBs of patches. At least it’s coming down at 24MB/s.
Apparently I failed a quest.
I had Galaxy up and running from last night. Just checked and it said a patch was available. Clicked to download.
It started. Downloading at 2 mb/second, which is what I get with Steam.
Seriously, folks. Sometimes Galaxy does choke in the first hour that a patch comes out, but it’ll sort itself.
In my opinion, GOG Galaxy failed at this point right here.

Here you go
I’ve also wished I picked up the Steam version, but I got a good price on the Gog version - free with my video card. Galaxy sucks big time.
People playing New Game + might want to postpone applying this patch for a bit.
Oh, hey, thanks! I may have to grab this after all…
Hmm. That’s me. I guess I’ll stop playing until this is fixed.
I am glad I got the steam version (and gog…and CE…) so all the hassle people are having with galaxy beta is nonexistant :)
Every single patch and DLC downloaded without issue, quickly, and all worked as it should.
Anyway, RPS posted their review:
There’s just so much here, and it’s all so well made. At this point I almost want CD Projekt to phone something in. Please. Anything! I’ll feel better about my laziness, and the rest of the industry needs a break from being so comprehensively schooled.
The really bizarre thing though is that this DLC, which honestly shows just about every other company how it’s done, is only CD Projekt’s idea of a taster, with the next one planned to be double the size, as well as offering a whole new world to explore. It’s not due out until 2016, but I can’t wait. Honestly, after finishing The Witcher 3 back on release, especially under the pressure of having a deadline, I was a bit worried at having burned out on the damn thing, and that the DLC would be a bit underwhelming.
Far from it. Hearts of Stone reminded me exactly what I loved about it the first time around, and all I could think when the credits rolled was how much I look forward to firing this game up in a few more months and concluding both Geralt’s final adventure, and one of the PC’s finest RPGs. Give or take a few giant bloody spiders. Grr.
I have it set to not do automatic updates, dude.
I feel well and truly put in my place. :)
GOG Galaxy still sucks.
Well, yeah. It’s a beta platform still in very early days. Is it really surprising it isn’t anywhere near as good as Steam?
My copy was free with hardware. Has been worth dealing with Galaxy for.
That’s about as glowing a review as you can get for expansion content.
Good on CDPR. If I was a betting man, I’d have laid good odds on Hearts of Stone being their first real high profile bobble.
Guess not!

With the DLC discounted 15% (and assuming the second DLC will be discounted similarly), there isn’t much a of a price break to get the season pass (about 50 cents). The season pass only includes the 2 DLC, right?
I imagine the second DLC will be more expensive, as it’s rumoured to be substantially larger (a new area).
