Toussaint looks so exactly how it should.

Thanks guys, I was probably just remembering the requirement - 30 would indeed make it even easier yet for me to give up, which is what I did (I believe Fallout 4 had dropped). I’m playing Syndicate now, maybe I should get back to The Witcher 3 and work on the main quest just to level up. I was actually having fun doing quests I’d never done before, and just playing the game itself is fun of course, so it’s not really much of a chore. Still, I better get going, I believe I actually bought the season pass so it would be nice to actually experience this stuff!

And after seeing what CDPR did with Witcher 3, I was sure that would be the case. ;)

If anyone is wondering where Blood & Wine takes place, you can check this map.

It’s Toussaint in the south.

The name, Toussaint, should be a clue. It sounds like Toulusse, a city at the South of France.

It’s supposed to be very Mediterranean, with colorful buildings, good climate, wine and festivals everywhere, etc.

I was going to say it looks very Italian. Should be a nice change in scenery.

BTW, one of the bigwigs at CDPR all but said there would definitely be a Witcher 4. On a Polish news interview last week he said words to the effect of “It would be a disservice to fans” to stop the series now. I would assume that we’re probably done with Geralt as a main character, however.

And yes, this should be “Well, no duh” material, but it’s the first time they’ve explicitly stated this much. But yes, of course they’re going to continue with the franchise.

Can you blame them?

In general people don’t mind sequels, I don’t think. I certainly don’t. It’s the annual, cash grab, hastily cobbled together Ubisoft and EA style sequels people dislike.

But by all accounts CDPR still has a lot of depth and innovativeness left with this series. As long as they have ideas, and give the room for the franchise to breathe and grow, why not make more? So until such a time as the quality suffers, or they run out of ideas, keep making more.

Yup. If CDPR maintains the quality and continues to change/iterate on the gameplay, then I have no objection to them continuing The Witcher series.

Anyway, I’m a few hours into my very first Witchering (level 5, impossible to tell actual time spent in game because the timer keeps count even when the PS4 suspends the game). I googled around a little on Gwent for some tips and it looks like I should STOP WHAT I’M DOING AND DO NOTHING BUT GWENT FOREVER, that it’s not the kind of thing you can change your mind about later because the guy with all the rare pikachu cards could be dead, or whatever.

Am I going to care about that? On the one hand I don’t want to spend my whole game stopping and researching things and trying play a perfect run, but on the other hand, if this game is as big as it sounds, I doubt I’ll be doing a second play through any time soon.

The Witcher 3 is gigantic, and a lot of it is good content. Don’t get hung up on doing a perfect run or checking off every map marker. You’ll turn a great game into a tedious slog. Take it easy and just do stuff as it comes and how you think feels most natural. If you think Geralt should stop and play a few rounds of Gwent, go for it. If you feel he should kill someone, do it.

The Witcher 3 should not be played like a typical sandbox open world game.

Yep. What Telefrog said. And for God’s sake, turn off the question marks on the map. That will help in this regard.

Oh, make no mistake…I want all the Witcher that CDPR has.

Wait. Wait. I’m afraid what you heard me say was that I want a lot of Witcher.

What I meant was…I want all the Witcher that CDPR has.

Translation of the pertinent comment:

This and the next year will be devoted to The Witcher. Apart from the second expansion we have some additional ideas. They should help us animate sales in 2016. The game is selling so well, that we are convinced there are still many people who will buy it if we promote it further.

Would be nice if those additional ideas involved third expansion or enhanced edition that would restore the cut content, most importantly the Wild Hunt infiltration questline, but I am not gonna be holding my breath.

Modding contest! Win a witcher sword.

Basically all you have to do is create an outfit or holiday element for any one of the characters in The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt! It can be an epic armor for Geralt, a christmas hat for Johnny, or candy canes for Nekkers! Once you have your mod ready, just upload it to Nexus Mods with “Witcher Mod Contest” tag, available under the “file admin”, and contact us via the contact form below. Please include the link to your Mod – submissions without a link will be invalid.

Man, I love all the salt mine threads opening on neogaf about this game recently :D

Man, I love the Witcher 3 so much. I didn’t finish the first expansion. Just needed a change of pace for a while, and the game is so engrossing. I’ll be all set for more by the time the 2nd expansion hits.

Any word as to where it fits in event timelines? The 1st expansion seems to be an unspecified time before (or during) the events of the main campaign?

I would not mind that but I would rather play a sorcerer/sorceress than Geralt or Ciri.

Officially it takes place during the game (and can be played before or after battle of Kaer Morhen and the game takes it into account and reflects it). I played it after I finished the game and it works too, Geralt simply being on the Path again.
