After the first map I just turned off the question marks. It was more fun to just discover things while traveling then to follow the icons, even if it meant missing things.
I might give that a try, though the completionist in me is going to scream about it.

You won’t miss what you don’t know is there :-)
You can always turn them back on when you are done with the game to see what you missed.
I found that disabling HairWorks and reducing everything but Textures from Ultra to High boosted the framerate a lot and didn’t change the visuals noticeably. I’d rather have the solid 60 FPS than 40-60 with slightly fancier hair.
Oh and I did try to get all the little smuggler’s caches and monster nests, but after a while (and after seeing just how many smuggler’s caches there are in Skellige) I decided to just put an end to it. I kind of bolted from White Orchard pretty early on and I was disappointed that when I tried to return later in the story it wouldn’t let me (hung on the loading screen).
I’ll probably go through it again with New Game+ mode later this year after I get through some other games in my backlog. I didn’t touch Gwent at all on my first playthrough, but it does look like they put a lot of effort into it so I will next time.
One annoying thing I noticed was that I had crafted a really nice weapon that was just a level or two above my character when I ended the game, and when I started a New Game+, the level requirement for that weapon had increased to 60-something (the stats increased a lot as well), so now it’s useless to me for another 100+ hours of gameplay.
My most anticipated release of the year. Excited!
I like how Geralt is holding the silver sword there. It was a good call. ;)

Has anyone seen anything more specific than quarter 2 for a release date?
A June 7th date got passed around from a Polish retail site, but it’s been confirmed that it was a placeholder date. No official date from CDPR yet.
The bar for the ultimate RPG has been raised. Now they need to get FromSoft combat in there. :)
Depends on what you mean by FromSoft combat. If you mean improving hitboxes, sure :)

This is my game of the decade. I can’t think of any other game that comes even close. There are small things that peeved me, but it was undeniably great. People will still be talking about this in 20 years, as they do about Wasteland or System Shock.
I can’t wait for the expansions, but I doubt I’ll ever revisit the main game. It’s too good to replay.
Won my first hero card from Haddy, the kid who lives west of the Bloody Baron’s town. Bought every card I didn’t already own from every innkeep and merchant I come across. So my first thought on seeing Paul’s post was whether or not the last expansion will add new Gwent cards. A whole new deck, too much to ask for?
I don’t think new deck will be added, but some new cards are a certainty. And the physical package will come with the two others gwent decks, just like Hearts of Stone did.
I’m officially a gwent addict. Switched from Northern realms deck building/playing to Nilfgaardian since the early gwent quest opponents kept throwing hero cards as their specials for that deck. Hardest opponent so far was the bookshop owner in Novigrad.

On my next playthough I’ll play with that mod that changes all combat into gwent matches. Waiting for blood and wine to come out.
What the what?! How does that somehow look even better than the already best looking game ever made? Did they actually improve the coloring/lighting somehow, or advance textures and lighting effects? Or are these shots maybe just a little bull-shotty? Not that I mind, it’s a freaking amazing looking game. These looks incredibly vibrant though, even the interior shots.
