It sucks, but imagine how cool would it be if they reconsidered and in like 5-10 years started some ARG teasing about some white wolf guy returning and then there would be triumphant return of Geralt as the protagonist…
Oh holy gods, thank you.

And voiced by some B-tier hollywood celebrity because focus testing showed that people want that.
So, Kiefer Sutherland? #sorry #thatwaskindofmean

I think it’s refreshing for a creator/developer to say “We’ve finished this wildly successful story arc with a protagonist and are going to move on”
It’s better to end wanting more than to drag on too long and leave a bad taste in one’s mouth.
JJ Abrams.
Definitely. In an age of yearly franchises an actual ending feels great. Though there’s still scope for the reboot and prequel. And the Roach spin-off. And the Gwent fps.
I would for reals play a Dandelion spinoff, if it involves getting dragged into adventures against your will while striving only for wine, women and song.

I’d happily play a game set in the past of any of the other main witcher characters we’ve encountered, whether Eskel, Lambert, Vesemir or Letho. All would make for games with a decidedly different tone.
I sorta asked this once before but I can’t recall the answer: You all figure someone could just jump into Witcher 3 and not be overwhelmed? Or is a Witcher 1 and 2 run essential/desired? My recollection is that it was suggested a Witcher 3 on its OWN is substantial and doesn’t need the earlier background games. True?

You can totally start w/ Witcher 3!

Witcher 3 is the best game of all time. Not close IMO.
Blood & Wine developer diary video is out: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=yvQYNZmWHqY
Damn that just looks so good. How is it a entire year has passed an no other game has been able to be half as good as The Witcher 3 was.
Thanks then probably a good time to dive into witcher 3!
Holy shit – they did an amazing job on the area design of Toussaint.
Make sure to watch the two summary videos that I linked to somewhere in this thread, they are on youtube also, they go over what happened in Witcher 1 and 2 and will have you all caught up. I am so jealous you get to play this for the first time. :p
KristiGaines, I would advise you not to watch these two summary videos. They are way too fast, they try to summarize huge RPG game stories in 10 minutes each and make it seem intimidating and boring. Instead just play the game. It will catch you up on all the concepts and events you need to be made aware of, slowly but surely. They don’t overwhelm you with information. Over the course of the huge game, you will gain knowledge about past events over time.
If you would like some background, this Witcher primer on Kotaku is well written and covers the basics of what you need to know if you want to know some background about the world of the Witcher.
At this point I guess it makes sense to wait for Blood & Wine’s release and just play it as a big blob. Since I’ve had my copy and held off playing for so long.
It’s endgame content so you have a hundred hours of gameplay between now and the 31st.
