Brothers in Arms question: Couple of things…I sent Keira to Kaer Morhen and I’m also 99% sure I saved Flan and Vigi in Skellige but I didn’t get either of their options for BiA quests. What happened?

I’d love a game starring Vesemir. Start of the game opens up to Vesemir and young Ciri sitting around a fire and she asks him to tell her a story. “Well there was this time I was in Skellige on the trail of a rather large cockatrice…” Then fade into the first chapter. Then have each chapter showing a different part of Vesemirs life from a young witcher to his current age.

That actually sounds pretty awesome, especially if the final custscene in the game shows Vesemir meeting a young Witcher candidate called Geralt. ;)

Yep, you can totally start with Witcher 3.

(And even if you start with Witcher 1, you’re still coming in the middle of the story, because the games are sequels to the books. So you might as well just start with the best part, which is Witcher 3.)

Finished the main quest and was just shy of level 38. So I traveled around the Heart of Stone expanded area east of Novigrad and kept liberating abandoned sites for 300 xp apiece. Hit 38 and now I have to decide if the Olfieri armor is better than my mastercrafted feline stuff (which gives attack power per piece).

Totally ready for B&W.

So yeah. 362 days ago I started this game. Played in fits and starts, nearly getting to the finish at 115 hours back in December. Took some time off, went back for a bit in January, in February, and then in April.

Decided with the B&W announcement to get serious about actually working the main storyline quest.

And so today at 138 hours, I’ve also finished the main story.

As much as I hated to see it end, it was time.

Kaer Morhen feels so…empty though. Deserted.

I’ll take a few days off and then start on Hearts of Stone.

Either I am super slow or you guys are skipping a bunch of sidequests (my playthrough took 204 hours, which I completed month after the game came out…)

You are super slow [emoji14]

Doesn’t it though? My first play through gave me Ciri as a witcher, and Geralt on his own since I fooled around with both Triss and Yen (hey, I was roleplaying Geralt as the lothario we all know him to be). So Kaer Morhen’s emptiness really hit home. I actually wandered around the keep, going through the rooms, running about outside it, for probably an hour last summer.

Heh. I even got a happily ever after ending (I presume), with Geralt and Yen enjoying life together, but man. Kaer Morhen is a sad, sad place.

Here’s what I love about it, though: if you played The Witcher I, the interior of KM looks exactly in Witcher 3 they way it looked in Witcher 1, only higher res and more explorable. And man, is it a sad-feeling place now.

I gotta move the old man out of there. Maybe find a vineyard or something for him to tend…

I thought I might try the New Game+ mode, but can’t figure out how to start it. I’ve finished the game, made a manual save, but I’m not seeing any sort of option for it under New Game. What am I missing here?

Can you complete side quests after finishing the main game? If not, what is the point of no return? Getting back into this game, I barely remember the main questline due to all the side quests and contracts and treasure hunts I’ve been doing.

The answer is sometimes yes, sometimes no.

The good news is: the game tells you!

There’s one point, maybe a little more than halfway through the main story quests, where you get a popup on screen as you sail towards
very mild

The Misty Isle, looking for Ciri

It tells you that if you proceed, some quests may not be do-able anymore. It then gives you the option to continue.

I think you get one more similar popup later in the game, but I can’t remember.

In all, MOST of the quests I’ve had sitting in my log weren’t affected, and having completed the main story quest I’m still going back to play and see stuff and I’m picking up other quests I hadn’t done as I play Hearts of Stone.

Wow. That’s more than 6 hours a day every day for a month. If you did that for a martial art you’d probably clear all the way to black belt (in a belt mill).

damn . This Ciri part With Dandelion is pure garbage. Ive tried 5 times now. No horse that I can see, and I die every single time to the guards after Dandelion dismounts… I do wish they were skippable, since I have absolutely zero interest in a platform / fighting game, which this turns into when it takes all my carefully accumulated tools away.

Thanks, looks like I’m right there. Finished up the ally recruitment stuff and am ready to sail there. Think I’ll go ahead and push on, I haven’t touched any of the DLC and I want to check out the new stuff later this month.

Do y’all even Witcher?

New trailer with lots more footage of Toussaint.

Also throughout the day today we should see hands-on previews of the new expansion from Youtubers who were either at the event in Italy or at CDPR’s new North American satellite in Venice Beach.
