Oh, sure. Fast travel is always going to be the optimal path in most open world games where quests require a lot of back and forth.
That said, The Witcher 3 offsets that by making the countryside gorgeous. Sometimes, just walking or riding from one town to another and experiencing the wind and sky while peasants trudge by and a griffin soars in the distance is a pleasant activity in itself.

Into the first expansion now. Question:as I was walking to find a bandit camp, I saw a big Griffin (i think?) flying over a hill, so I climbed up, beat him eventually, and there was a dead body on top of this hill. Is searched him and found a note to his brother in law about some hag, a chest, etc. Went to the base of the hill, found the hatch to go underground, saw the red chest with Witcher senses, but it said it needs a key. Well, he didn’t have a key on him. Looking at walk throughs it says he should have a key. Oh, no quest was initiated either. I loaded a previous save, did the same thing, still no key. And no quest initiated. Is this a matter of I found something before a quest that should have been initiated somewhere else?
I liked this reddit breakdown of lore misconceptions. He might not be right about all of them, but they made me think about the universe a little.

Probably a stupid question but is there any way this would run on a new Dell XPS 13 (core i7, 8gb RAM, iris 540)?

You have the CPU and RAM covered but like most games, the GPU is what matters. I am guessing the iris 540 can’t handle this game.
Should be pushing into just new content this week. That took A LOT of time. Guess I played it a lot more than I remember last time.

Daytime partying in Novigrad. Toxicity high.

Finally! It’s the Game of Thrones/Cape Fear/Eastern Promises mash-up I never knew I needed.

One of the best characters in the game. I’m still salty about the way it was handled towards the end, completely unnecessary and even felt out of character imo.
Yeah Dijkstra’s last few minutes are one of the few rare things narratively mishandled in Witcher 3. There is a mod that fixes it

But I haven’t tested it myself.
Ha! A Fan Fiction mod! Brilliant.
Frankly CDP fucked so bad there that to me the vanilla ending of that quest is more like a fan fiction :p
maaaaaaybe some spoiler tags?
Apart from general griping about the end of one sidequest nothing specific was spoiled ?

OMG Equine Phantoms is the most I’ve laughed in a game in years. Do not miss this quest.

LOVE the banter. Geralt asking how Roach can follow him across a sea but gets hung up on a fence… Roach complaining about being left in monster-infested woods. Hilarious stuff!
I want Witcher 4 as a Buddy Cop movie, with talking Roach.[/spoiler]
Well, now I’m afraid I’ll miss it - where does it start?

I just started playing - just two hrs in or so. At the moment, I’m completely overwhelmed with the crafting and alchemy. So many ingredients. What’s a good way to gain some familiarity with those systems?
