Don’t fear, that’s the extent of my interaction with him. ;)

Yes, it was confirmed many times, including videos that show directly the video options. The recent trailers had full maxed setting with the exclusion of the fur/hair physics, that hits performance so massively that it’s unplayable even on the 980. The only not 100% confirmed thing is how far was that version from the retail one, that’s it.
Final note - it seems reviews are due to appear sometime during this week. Do you really think none of those will do a proper technical analysis, or at least a passing one? It’s a fantastic opportunity for eager reviewers to “acquire” views, even more so with the downgrade speculation, so I find it hard to believe that they will just ignore that. But I could be wrong.
Heh, sadly nope. A passing one, sure, but game reviewers have a very low technical competency. Most of them cant even tell the difference between 60 and 30 fps.
Even a guy like TotalBisquit who focuses a lot on tech isn’t exactly an expert and can’t explain a whole lot, and all the last articles on Eurogamer have gone down in quality (see today’s technical analysis of Project Cars, that is filled with mistakes).
And for the record, there may be some very legitimate reasons to dislike this game and be disappointed by it. I hope not, but these things happen.
That being said, I’m encouraged by reports from those who have played it. If nothing else, the game seems to make a good first impression that lasts well into the first handful of hours at minimum.
So, maybe that’s good.
That’s why now my main concern for the game itself is how well it holds together over the long haul. Do the middle and later stages of the game feel as fully realized and crafted as the first sections? Are the things you can do–story, sidequests, exploring, other stuff–interesting enough to do to hold me over the long haul? Will the Geralt development–skills, leveling, armor and loot chase–keep me involved?
To me those are the questions that will determine whether this game is good, great, or a terrible disappointment. Everything else is just tiresome and uninteresting noise.
You’re right, from now on we should only make new game threads POST release.
Yeah, that’s exactly what I said. Good call.
Ugh, I didn’t know what I was doing putting that link here :P
Ha! We’re pretty much at hype train saturation now. That’s pretty much what all this barking back and forth is about.

That’s it man! Game over man! Game over!
Preorder cancelled.
Embargo over a week before release? What is going on? Am I awake?
I’m preloading the game from GOG :) It’s downloading in all its pixellated, downgraded glory.
Damn you were right about that pixellated downgrade! D:
What are you talking about? That screenshot looks exactly like the 2013 trailers to me.
This downgrade talk is the stupidest thing ever.
I happy to hear someone who isn’t quite as invested as I am, and who thinks more clearly about the game than I do feels that way too.

I feel kind of bad for the folks who get so upset about things not living up to promotional videos that they can’t appreciate that the Witcher 3 looks pretty damn awesome.
