So.
Do I take one week off for this, or two weeks?
Two weeks it is.
But it is depressing that even if I become total and utter hermit, playing 10 hours a day, I will only manage to get 160 hours, which will not be enough to finish it. And as I know myself, I will leave the main quest for last. Sigh.

I really got burned by this one. I was bored to tears after about 2 hours.
Yeah, DA:I started out strong for me but burned me out about midway. I still haven’t finished it though I think I’m in the final stretch. I’ll probably revisit it months down the road.
Those Witcher 3 reviews though – wow, happy for the CD Projekt RED team and I can’t wait to play it.
The PS4 impressions linked from that article are really insightful.
The best way to play this is to play it like you’re never going to play it again.
I don’t know why i bought DA:I, felt it was a waste of my time.
I’m not worried about negative reviews coming later unless there is a debacle like the ending of ME3 where individual reviewers can’t compare notes to realize how silly their individual experience was.
It sounds like the open world was a success, and the characters and combat are no worse than TW2. This isn’t going to be Inquisition.
The only question for me is whether it becomes an all-time favorite or not.
So I got my vacation day approved for the 19th, wish I could take more time off , lol.
This is my level of hype:

Maybe I’ll finish off the main story of DA:I and free up some SSD space, I have like 2 missions remaining. I just burned out on the game after 100 hours, just got too damn repetitive and side quests were dull.
DA:I was a gigantic letdown for me. I was interested at the beginning, but after about 10 hours, I just wanted it to end. The combat felt bland, and the BioWare dialog design just doesn’t do it for me anymore.
Two weeks seems crazy to me. You’ll be so far ahead of everyone else. Too much of a chance to get burned out too. Why not play a week and then savor the rest?
I think one day is more than enough, personally, especially for Americans who get to play a few hours the night before.
I figure 1 day (10-12 hours) is enough to get you out of the starting area, going by the info that has been mentioned of it.

Sounds like I’m one of the few who really liked DA:I. I agree with some of the complaints - the combat was not good and side quests could be bland. I just enjoyed exploring the maps, the main characters and story. There were a bunch of wow moments - like when the entire keepbroke into song.

I decided to take on the first Witcher because I want to clear the Steam backlog and the completionist in me would like to have both Witcher games cleared before tackling W3. I’m about a 1/4 of the way through Act IV and while I’m enjoying the story I’m NOT enjoying how Fedex-y this game is. Go here and talk to X, now go back and talk to Y, finally go back and talk to X again. Holy shit this game can be so tedious. Is the second Witcher like this too?
Ah ha, Tom Senior says the combat still feels a lot like TW2, and he thought he took some unfair hits. I’m okay with this (assuming the Souls games haven’t ruined me) but it means that Dark difficulty probably isn’t a good idea to start with if you get easily frustrated. The incoming damage might be too annoying. I think I will play on hard.
Yeah the 2nd one also has a lot of back and forth walking, but its not as bad as I recall W1 being. Areas in W2 are smaller and higher detailed. I recently finished Witcher 2 (last month).
I plan on trying W3 on Normal, with the option of dropping to easy if my combat skills are not up to par.
It doesn’t solve every RPG hard problem, but it’s nothing like running through those infamous swamps. You should be fine.
PS4 players on the fence might want to watch out. The most consistent criticism is technical issues like framerate and load times. Supposedly they will be solved by the day zero patch, but you know how that goes. If money and time are tight, it wouldn’t hurt to wait for the all clear.
Hyped!
Though the galaxy GoG is still slow as yesterday. I will have to use the web.
Almost started a new thread because it took me forever to find this one, but does anyone know anything about this game? Is anyone excited?
