You’ve just doomed everyone to thinking they need to play the first two games, which they will never do in a million years because everyone’s backlog is too big, and now they’ll never play The Witcher 3. :)

I still find it hard to believe there’s no default when they’ve gone out of their way to try to make it approachable for new players.

From what I understand, there might be a default which involves simply not answering the questions.

Yeah I am wondering if somehow the questions are a side mission maybe? And… Did CDPR create missions later on in the game that depend on the answers you give?

There is a default, yeah.

Found an old article on how it works:

On PC, The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt can import a Witcher 2 save file to “impact your playthrough” of the third entry, but on consoles CD Projekt is taking a different approach. In a roundtable interview Level Designer Miles Tost told Joystiq that The Witcher 3 will look to simulate world states based on decisions taken in an in-game conversation.

“The way how it works is that the game on the consoles will ask you whether you want to simulate a specific state of the world, coming from previous games,” Tost explained. “If you choose ‘yes,’ then you will get a special conversation at one part of the game - I don’t want to spoil where it happens. It’s basically a conversation with a character and the conversation is about the adventures of Geralt of Rivia. And you can basically deny or confirm whatever [the character] has heard of whatever tales of [Geralt.] It’s actually kind of a cute mechanic. If you don’t want to simulate the state then this conversation doesn’t take place.”

Right. Like I said, it’s literally a guy walking up with a journal in-hand and asking questions.

Finished the first Witcher yesterday. I enjoyed the story but the engine they used was such a clunky POS that pretty much assures I’ll never revisit it for another play through. With that said I’m ready for W2 and I eager to hear your protips on which skills are worth investing in and which ones should be avoided. It’s always a downer to to pick skills based on description alone only to find out 1/2 through the game that it’s nearly worthless and that I should have gone with Y instead of X.

Quen sign was so OP in W2, I loved it. It also had a upgrade that allowed for a ricochet lighting effect that could hit up to I think 5 guys, by just letting them hit you once. I believe its been NERFED in W3.

And launcher trailer is out!

@ Telefrog below… slighly NSFW , monster bewbs also.

Maybe NSFW? Flashed nipple warning for those that care.

Superb video!

Is that trailer the big surprise for today?

That trailer was beautiful, one of the best CGI I have ever seen. Overtook even Witcher 2 EE intro for me.

I believe so. :)

Love that song, sadly its not in the official soundtrack.

Not me. I was just thinking of that one too. Graphically it’s in a different league but that Witcher 2 intro was just too good with its music and mini storyline.

Link for those who haven’t seen it. This may influence your customized storyline choices. :)

What I liked about the W2 intro, was it didn’t even need to have Geralt in it to be awesome. :)

Well, Letho was pretty awesome. I guess if he keeps to his word (and assuming you let him live) he probably made himself scarce and won’t be in this game. Kind of a shame.

People reporting that the release patch on PS4 fixes framerate issues completely: http://www.gamepur.com/news/18849-insider-tidux-showcase-witcher-3-wild-hunt-ps4-day-one-patch-performance.html

What’s awesome about that trailer is how it shows all the various stuff that a Witcher does, including new stuff in the game: bounties, potions, bombs, signs, even the crossbow.

This is what I imagined a bruxa to look like from the Last Wish story about one.

Excellent, excellent video. Top notch CGI, excellent direction, great soundtrack choice, and most important of all, it’s true to the character and to the role of a witcher.

I should note that the intro movie for Witcher 1 was also amazing for the time (and it was a faithful recreation of the first short story in The Last Wish), and the intro movie for Witcher 2 EE is also breathtaking, so… yeah, for me, CDPR is as good as Blizzard in making awesome CGI “goodies” for their products so far.

It’s also worth mentioning the Cyberpunk 2077 announcement trailer. ;)

By the way, this latest trailer was made by Digic Pictures.

The Trail for The Witcher 3 and the cinematic for The Witcher 2 were created by Platige Image.
