I had to rewind that portion, and listen to it again. did he REALLY say that? Holy cow.

You guys are joking right? Right? Did they really say that? That IS what I’m doing, but that 360 will have a ps4 next to it instead of my ps3.

Sony’s cheek and Microsoft’s absolute cluelessness in this generation is even more amusing than Sony’s hubris and Nintendo’s puns in the last.
Same laws. Period.
And the Ouya is even cheaper for that, AND you can run Android TV apps like the iPlayer…
It’s the law in some countries, just not in the US, since these kind of things tend to vary a lot depending on where you are at (if you want to see a really inapplicable law -that is so granting to the authors that its basically ignored- look into the “moral rights” granted to authors in some European countries).

Directly from the mouth of Mattrick on GT. Kheighley was a little flabbergasted himself.
I get the feeling he wants to say the right things but he just doesn’t know how.

Ah the EU, is there nothing they won’t try to bureaucratize. An awful lot of effort to benefit painters, scribblers, & sculptors and nobody else, all for a payment between 3k and 12.5k per transaction. I’m sure it’s resulted in some sort of official registry office and several well-paid staff positions and directorships for persons of impeccable taste and influence.
Ah yes, they don’t count in your world. Well, there we go. And yes, I’m sure you’re sure you know what’s happened.
Anyway, still laughing at Sony’s burns to Microsoft.

I literally could not believe it. Geoff actually started tossing him bones left and right, but he just couldn’t stop his run of the mouth. At one point he equated offline play to people living in a nuclear submarine? or something? And it would be hard to get internet there, so they should keep an Xbox 360… I’m not sure about a submarine myself, but I was surely watching a sinking ship.
But before that, yes he basically told people if they want to play offline, use the 360.
A spanish submarine then…

Betting the NSA is horribly depressed with Xbox One’s reception. The only people who would buy it are too stupid to spy on.

If you make a good enough game that lasts more than a day, you don’t have to worry as much about used sales. You’d think no one was buying new games based on the conversation in this subject which is certainly not the case. Give people a reason to buy your game new and keep it for awhile. You won’t miss out on any potential new full price sales except for the few kids that guzzle energy drinks for three days straight to finish it.
Indeed.
I’d be all for eliminating the used game middlemen who don’t do anything but take a lot of the money that should go to the makers if we also do the same with publishers who don’t do anything and take a lot of the money that should go to the makers.
I don’t buy used games AT ALL. I don’t think i’ve bought one in 15 years. However the attitude microsoft, and others, have about this is just offensive to me as a consumer. Next they will be saying that if i play a game for more than 20 hours, they should get a bonus because i got more value out of it and they are entitled to wringing more money out of me without providing any further service(s).
Anyway, i hope people pre-ordering the xboner will enjoy their… cheaper games due to publishers passing on some of that saved money back to the customer. Now excuse me while i go laugh myself to death at how naive people are.
I don’t know all of the aspects of Don Mattrick’s job, but he’s a terrible public spokesperson for a product, not just because he makes horrible decisions and says stupid things, but he just has a very high natural “I’d like to slap that guy” factor going on just based on his goofballicity.
Also, in retrospect it is kind of shitty that one Microsoft guy got fired since Microsoft’s current official stance is pretty much exactly his “deal with it” message.

Heh, well at least he’s honest… probably should stop letting the guy in front of a mic though.

So on the one hand Don Mattrick says gamers are “smart people”, yet they’ve talked down to us like we’re all morons for the past month. Which is it?
“Internet must be tough to get on a nuclear sub”
. Him even thinking a sailor has any chance at Internet access on Nuclear sub shows how out of touch with reality he is. They don’t have it on purpose, to keep it secure, outside of the once every 3 months satellite communication the captain gets to use. And what happened to the special voucher program for people who don’t have Internet that Phil Harrison spoke of? Was that voucher program, “use an Xbox 360” or did that disappear?
