I didn’t ask a question I stated a point as to why it was wrong. There’s a difference.

Every time I turn on my PS3 I see a selection of promoted content highlighted as the default selection on the XMB. Content promotion - and that is the only thing Microsoft has said will be allowed on the user-customizable home screen on the Xbox One. Not unrelated advertisements outside of the context of content being offered on the system.
Much like Steam too, the content promotion you see when quitting a game.
I can live with content promotion. Heck, if I could turn off content promotion on Steam, my 360 or the PS3, I probably wouldn’t. It often reminds me of a game or a sale that might otherwise miss.
The PS3 will default to the “What’s New” section if you don’t have a disc in the drive, otherwise it will default to whatever Blu-ray or game you have inserted. I believe you can also tell it what you want to be your default view on boot so you don’t have to look at the “What’s New” thing. You can also turn off the ticker in the upper right.
Man, I love that ticker. The things that scroll up there are usually so incredibly vague that I don’t even know what they’re trying to advertise.
Yeah, I remember one in particular that advertised a bunch of free in game currency but neglected to name the game. I kept waiting for it to loop around to confirm I hadn’t just missed it at the beginning.
What is this ticker? I don’t recall ever seeing it or maybe I just don’t notice. The only advertisement I see on the PS3 is just weekly deals and random content they’re trying to push which I suppose is the “What’s new” section.
There can be a text ticker underneath the friend status/message notification/clock in the upper right hand corner of the XMB. They scroll these cryptic text promotions in it. You might have it turned off.
It’s also incredibly tiny, which makes reading anything off of it longer than two words impossible. It makes me wonder if it’s appropriately sized for Japanese, and they just totally missed the fact that it would look terrible in nearly every other language.

Considering that in Japanese a word can be as small as a single character and then don’t use spaces in their sentences then I would say, yes it is a lot more suitable for the Japanese.
The thing about the ticker is that it’s actually the text from underneath the icons in the ‘What’s New’ section. Took me forever to figure that out- it’s just so vague.
Okay I see the ticker now. I rarely ever pay attention to it when I’m on the XMB since it’s just hidden up in the corner where I never look except in a game when it notifies me of a friend messaging me or logging on/off.
I’ve often thought Japanese people on Twitter are basically cheating.

Haha, yes they can essentially use Twitter as a blogging service.
Jake you and Telefrog nailed it. I love my ps3 but I don’t use it for much in the realm of gaming. How the heck people have percision aiming with those little ps3 nubs is beyond me. More power to them, but I love my xbox controller. I know it doesn’t make $ense for Microsoft to do it, but I wish I could just use my xbox controller on the xbox1
Well, apparently the next generation controller is even better. With better vibration feedback, better triggers and whatnot.
I’m still so on the fence, I’ve now pre-ordered both of them from Amazon. I’ll cancel one before the actual launch. Probably the Xbox One. But I’m not sure yet. After the DRM scheme and everything got reversed, my brothers and cousins who I play with all ordered the Xbox One after all. So that’s social pressure for me to go that way.
No, COD has dogs. Dogs you will care about. Don’t you like dogs?
Also, you play as the dog (actually that would be pretty awesome).
Ah, you can. And anyway, Steam is just one digital delivery platform on PC. A normal “everyday” PC does not have ads. So your example is Xbox 360 and P/S3. Leave the PC out of it.
