You plug your cable TV into it and run it that way. As for the rest well you don’t need those devices since the Xbox one replaces them all…at least that’s what Microsoft wants you to think it does.
On the plus side, I had previously understood the IR blaster stuff to only be for cable boxes, whereas that they’re strongly suggesting in that article that they think it will work with everything (eg PVRs, Freeview tuners). I’ll believe it when I see it, but it does make the overlay and voice control aspect of Xbone a lot more interesting if true. Not enough to influence my buying decision, as I already have a Harmony remote, but it would not be an entirely useless gimmick for me any more.

Bah! You don’t need any of that other fancy pants stuff! You have an Xbox!
(yes, that was sarcasm)
In your case, it would go satellite receiver --> Xbox One --> AVR --> TV, with your other components either connecting to the AVR or directly to the TV.

The article is interesting, and just reinforces my plans to just sit back and eat my popcorn and watch the people who purchase day one and listen to how things work - on both consoles - for a while before committing.
The good news is that both systems have potential.

You would hook it up as:
AVR --> xbone --> TV
The xbone doesn’t need to be switched, as it is a passthrough. Of course if you want to switch it you can just plug it into your AVR like your other components.

all my Xbox points no longer show up (I had a tonne) … also I cant buy anything until I insert a valid CC (which I dont want to do )
I have been paying with points for years… I had a tonne… now with the new Xbox upgrade I have no points left and there is no balance demonstrating a conversion of $$ monies $$
I got ass raped
Your points should be converted and rounded up: http://www.joystiq.com/2013/08/26/xbox-live-updated-to-real-people-money/
But you will likely have to either enter a CC or simply add one last MS points code for that to happen, if I understand this blog post correctly: http://majornelson.com/2013/08/26/the-next-xbox-live-update-for-xbox-360-is-here/
What do you need to do to get this update? The next time you log into Xbox Live, you will automatically be prompted to start the download. After that, when you go to initiate a purchase or redeem a Microsoft Points card through your Xbox 360, we’ll add to your Microsoft account an amount of currency equal to or greater than the Xbox Marketplace value of your Microsoft Points. We’ll also continue to accept purchased Microsoft Points Cards and codes until further notice. It’s that easy.
So not sure you’ve exactly been “ass raped”. But you need to take action to see your updated balance.

But butt-rape is so much more dramatic.
I didn’t have to add a card or use a points card - I just went into Xbox video on friday night and I think it popped up and converted them right there (might have been when I went to purchase my rental for the weekend). I didn’t have enough £ to rent a movie though, so I did have to add points - which I did by buying a points card through game.co.uk and redeeming the code. The only oddity was that I had to exit Xbox video and re-enter it to get it to properly recognise that I had a useful £ balance in my account.
I have a card that expired in Feb 2012 attached to my account, that’s it.

Nah, is just a humurous way to signal a trollish post, so is easier to ignore.

Sony recently added a way to add money to his plus+ thing using Paypal, but don’t work for me. I suspect that in the search of saving 1 cent every 3000 transactions they use the most half-assed ways possible. I have to buy +50$ cards in Amazon, and it feels like the internet in 1996. Is a horrible html 1.0 experience. HORRIBLE HTML ONE DOT ZERO EXPERIENCE!.
You’re right. I just downloaded the update and tested it on my account and it was totally painless. I just went into the Avatar store and selected an item at random. When I opened the checkout window, it converted my points into cash and then let me get back to what I was doing (at which point I simply cancelled out of the transaction).
So there really is no need to do anything. The first time you hit checkout on anything (XBLA, Avatar, Video), your points will be converted into money for you.

Yes, but where’s the rage?

If you have to run to a website to figure out how they made all of your deposited cash went away, and then give them MORE money as a work-around, then MS screwed up. Not saying it’s all the way to sexual assault, but it might be at the unwelcome touching level.

And I’m still pissed that they cube-ified the interface to implement the Kinect’s “hold your hand over the big box” UI navigation. At least the blade interface is invokable with the center button.
As it turns out, you don’t. Just try to purchase something, anything (even if you don’t complete the transaction) and you will get a helpful screen telling you that your points have been converted into cash.
Wendelius
Plenty of rage in this thread. I don’t think I would have much more to contribute on that point. :)
