I’m beginning to prefer playing games on my PC with a controller, actually… (Though not FPSs.)

I’m looking forward to getting an XBone controller. My 360 rechargeable batteries have about had it. The one I used last night only lasted about 5 hours.

You have time to play games for 5 hours straight!?

I totally wouldn’t have stated this if not for Rome 2. The interface and how information is provided suffers due to this type of design aesthetic.

They wait that long? Oh right, THQ died off. Hmm.

Microsoft has quickly debunked Dell’s claim that all Windows 8 apps run on Xbox One. Also on AllThingsD.

UPDATE: A Microsoft spokesperson has replied to us stating “The suggestion that all Windows 8 apps run on Xbox One is not accurate.”

Bummer.

Is it seriously even an advantage at all if the xbox runs windows 8 apps? I don’t even use those on my windows 8 PC…

Absolutely. The idea of having PC-like capabilities in the living room, without another box, is pretty appealing. The only trick is what hurdles there are to get on the store – if MS provides some minimal UI support automatically via Kinect (as well as things like the accessibility APIs), they’ll be in good shape. If developers have to write custom UIs to even be on the store, then it will be less appealing.

They already strongly hinted that porting an app form Windows 8 to Xbox one is as difficult as porting it to the Windows phone 8, there is a lot of shared WinRT core and there Xbox specif API and UI. Now the question is how open will the Xbox one store be compared to the Windows 8 store? Even if they offer similar conditions I think it be will a lot more curated then Windows store, but instant0 already mentioned what would be the greatest app, one that interfaced with upcoming Steam streaming, or the streaming Nvidia is using for the shield.

Oh god yes, that would be amazing. It’s a full appstore on your TV.

It would be a full App Store if it were the iOS or even the Google Play store…

Will you accept the invitation?

Not a bad ad.

Wendelius

Good ad.

That’s a solid ad.

Guess they should have region locked it to only be playable in countries where it launches. :-) (The youtube ad… that is)

Fantastic commercial.

New name for the console: XBox 720. Because renders many games in 720p.

haha. Some of the gifs in that thread are stellar.

This being the best picture though:

I’m pretty sure the PS4 will as well.

900p for Battlefield 4 on PS4. Is that significantly better than 720p? I mean, it’s a little better, but if you want high resolutions, don’t even bother with consoles in the first place.

Agree with this.

Edit: In fairness, the Xbone launches a week later than PS4, so a later embargo on a launch title is not really unreasonable.
