For a console I think I would rather have a stable 60 fps than 1080/30.

It all depends on the game I guess.

I don’t play consoles, so I don’t know. But I see people playing in big TV’s. Where resolution has to be important (but.again, I don’t know). I have some negative perception disonance, because some people is starting to talk about 4K.

Thats soo great.

It is about 50% more pixels.

So far BF4 is the only game rumored to be sub- 1080p on PS4. The vast majority are confirmed 1080p. CoD, BF4, Killer Instinct and Microsoft’s Golf game are all known to be 720p on Xbox One.

Hell, not even all last-gen titles were consistently 720p on the damn XBox 360 and PS3. So there’s already room for improvement there.

Haha!

Man, you aren’t up to date with this shit. 720p discussions are so last week, the hot new right now is this one

Wow, so if that rumor is true, that would be a much bigger deal than 720p. If they’ve really broken one of the key features that makes Xbox live so good, that’s a big deal. I just find it a little hard to believe for that reason.

I suppose it won’t be as bad as some people fear, but maybe the OS is still a bit green at launch. Let’s remember they had to re-tool part of it when they changed the always online system, and there is some weird shit going on with the OS, as it seems there are not one but two, a win8-like with Kinect, apps, tv controls and a gaming OS, separate (I read they have access to hardware resources in a different way) but still connected somehow, as to allow the snap feature and stuff like that.

That animated volcano from space in the Neogaf thread was fantastic.
Forgot what the thread was about.
Vol-ca-no!

That is awesome. I feel like I can reach into my PC monitor.

Not sure how legit this is, but here is footage (as reported by that bastion of journalistic integrity, Evil Avatar) of the Xbox One Dashboard.

Source

If this is legit, I’m unimpressed - it looks pretty much identical to me to the current 360, give or take? Regardless, I wonder if the response times will be that quick as they were in the video. I have my doubts, but I’m a little cynical when it comes to hardware working like it’s shown to…

Obviously doctored. That’s the E3 Titanfall footage, and the transition isn’t believable even it wasn’t. You don’t drop in to a mulitplayer game like that out of suspend.

Yeah, it seems so the more I think about it. Seems (not really) odd that Evil Avatar would… ah, I can’t even finish that sentence. Carry on! :)

According to a former member of the Xbox audio team on Beyond3D there is some truth to the rumor. He said getting the current party chat system working in the first place was a clusterfuck and for Xbox One they had to start from scratch. I assume that is due to the migration to Skype for voip and the triple OS design.

I don’t care if we had chat working fine on the 360 we paid $8 billion for Skype so it will be used in everything no matter what.

We’ve got Hyper V, it must be used so we can create this complicated triple OS for our console even though a single modern multitasking OS can do everything we would need just fine.

Make things more complicated than you need and get your ass in trouble Microsoft…

PAN CORPORATE SYNERGY!

Chat and friend stuff was pretty seamless on Xbox360 and that was one of the major things that made the console a better alternative vs. the PS3.

I still can’t get over MS wanted to say a few bucks per unit gambling so much on “cheap RAM” when this console is supposed to last 10 years. As soon as they found out which memory units the PS4 was going to use, they should have stopped right there and modified the design to take the better RAM.

I would have to imagine it was far too along in development to make that sort of change. That and the beastly thing is already $100 more expensive than the PS4.
