I wish any of the demos showed the Xbox Music app. Is any music you own other than an Xbox music pass out of the question? I’m assuming it is, or they would have shown it.

Dead Rising 3 live gameplay:
Yep. I posted it in the Dead Rising 3 thread earlier. I like the number of zombies on screen. Now that feels like a proper zombie apocalypse.

Any proof, or just more tiresome trolling?
You can stream any music you own from your PC. I read that this morning on… Polygon I think? Maybe it was somewhere else.
What? Are you debating that the XBOX ONE won’t have ads?

You obviously don’t own an Xbox. It went from cool UI to confusing ad filled nightmare. No reason to think this will change.
No, but saying that something will be an “ad-filled wonderland” is, from what we have seen so far, pretty hyperbolic.
And I have owned a 360 since 2006, for those who can’t believe that anyone would possibly disagree with them.
Sorry. We have different opinions of the amount of advertisements in the 360 UI. <shrug>
I will say that I highly doubt that the consumer experience with the XBONE menu will look as ad-free as the one in the demo video.
In the the Verge article for that video they say there is a learning to curve to how to speak to the Xbox, having the pauses is probably how they get around the fact that people would use the word xbox in normal conversation so the machine has to judge intention that is a problem even harder then just doing the correct translation , Google got around the issue by using “OK Google” that is something no one says in a regular conversation.
As for the ads the store interfaces that they didn’t show surely will have ads, on the front page is possible that the right column that I think is supposed to be what’s hot list could include an ad will see down the road if they do it, doubt that they will do that at launch.
The thing with me, voice recognition is cool and all, but once I have to start repeating myself it’s back to using buttons. There were a few times where it didn’t pick up on what he was saying and that would drive me crazy. One thing I’ve noticed in this video and the other one released are the rooms are completely silent. There are no background noises, not even the TV speakers are on. That makes me curious how accurate it would be with noises going on in the background.
Correct. Out of the box it only takes AA batteries. You’d have to buy a play and charge kit or provide your own rechargable battery solution.
From the Verge’s UI demo:
The only confirmed method of playing MP3 files is by initiating playback from a Windows PC/Tablet/Phone by right clicking files and selecting the Xbox One as a “Play To” target.
I don’t mind too much the ads for content that’s available for the system(games, movies etc). Its the random stuff like a car ad that I find annoying.
That’s where those will be, too.
In other news, with the embargo up on the Xbox One UI I’ve seen a number of people in the games press report that MS was touting the multitasking capabilities as an advantage over the PS4. Not the Snap feature, but they’ve been saying the PS4 can’t switch out of a game without losing game progress. The only problem is that isn’t true at all. Sony confirmed multitasking months ago and there are even videos out there showing the ability to instantly pop back and forth between a game and the web browser. While it’s not surprising to see MS blatantly misrepresenting the PS4’s capabilities again, it’s shocking to see Ben Kuchera or Andrew Yoon repeating these false claims as fact.
I’m guessing that the confusion is about instant-on app suspend/resume, which Sony confirmed is not available at launch (despite being loudly touted by them in their E3 reveal).
There’s another key difference between the two (related to this type of functionality), which a quick Google reveals hasn’t been announced yet, so I guess you’ll have to wait until next Friday to find out about that.
Yeah, not particularly feeling the outrage.

I’ve mainly stayed quiet in this topic because, hey, its the Internet and you can’t win, but Brad, those things you circled aren’t ads. Those slots are programmed by the editorial team I’m on and are highlights of the best new content on any particular day. Not paid ads. They’re a “what’s new.”
I’m going back to radio silence now because I like my job and I’m not in PR and not a spokesman and it’s not my place to correct misperceptions or compensate for Brad’s everlovin’ PS-enthusiasm. :) I can talk more after 11/22…

You got me, if I could like a post this would’ve been one of the few times I would. I had to read that three times over trying to figure out if I was missing something.
