So they mention they had unfettered access at a London event, so it may not be the final retail (or day one patched) build, but that is still not particularly inspiring for a flagship title two weeks out from launch.

By the way, the reasoning from Capcom for the 30 FPS on Dead Rising 3 is to “maintain the feel of combat” which is probably one of the dumbest things I’ve read in a while.
I agree, maybe they should port it to the ps4.

Dead Rising as a zombie game is kind of a unique situation. You expect to see dozens of zombies on the screen simultaneously. That’s worth sacrificing a butter smooth 60 fps.
On the other hand, nothing is worth going below 30 fps.
I think the DR3 DF report is an indictment of the state of that particular game, not the XBox One itself.
It’s looking like a game which was first targeted at the last gen, then had its engine modified to run on next gen and hasn’t benefited from the time and attention to make it a proper next gen title.
DR3 was a potential purchase to play on my XBox One. It still is. But I’ll need some convincing reviews to tell me why I should spend money on it rather than other games available at launch. And some reassurance that the final version doesn’t really dip down to 16 fps. We’ll see.
I just bought and am loving Deus Ex 3 DC on the Wii U. I don’t require all my games to be 1080p with next gen effects to enjoy them. But it doesn’t mean I’ll spend money on DR3 if it’s not up to par.

I saw some video over at giant bomb a day or two ago and it looked smooth from what I saw. They even commented that the E3 build was garbage but what they played the other day was vastly improved.

They played a demo though.

So how will a game like Madden 25 differ on Xbox One vs. Xbox 360? Will it be smarter? Just be higher resolution with FSAA and AF? It’s got to be tremendously expensive for developers to make double versions of all their games during the console transition. What a nightmare.
Look at NBA 2K14 for an example – the next-gen versions have much more detailed players, courts, etc. but I think the basic gameplay and feature set is the same.
Though for Madden, there is a bunch of Smartglass stuff on the Xbox One. I am pretty sure that is not supported on 360…

Meh, it’s a console, console players should be used to ass performance.
PC MASTER RACE FOREVER
Actually, this is selling next gen NBA2K14 short. Whilst the on court gameplay seems to be pretty similar to the current gen 2K14 (I’m sure there are some minor differences but nothing stands out to my NBA2K-hardened eyes so far), the game modes have been completely overhauled for next gen. I won’t bother going into it as I assume nobody cares about the details but the feature set is definitely a complete change from current gen, in a way that totally explains why current gen 2K14 is the most anemic change from the previous year’s game that NBA2K has had in 4+ years… Sigh.

If it’s anything like previous console generation changes, it will look somewhat prettier, but will strip out a huge amount of functionality and content. I’m sure they’ll keep the money-spinning stuff like FIFA Ultimate Team and whatever Madden does like that, but don’t expect much in the way of other frills. It usually takes two years or so for sports franchises to reach feature parity with the previous generation.
I don’t know about Madden, but if you look at FIFA, it’s graphics, more realistic crowds, more animations for the players and better AI (4 times the processing of decisions, apparently): http://www.eurogamer.net/articles/2013-08-28-whats-the-difference-between-current-gen-and-next-gen-fifa
“There were two things we did straight away,” said Rutter. “One was bump it up to 1080p and see if it made a difference, because 1080p’s expensive. It’s a lot of graphics. We were sceptical going into it, but came out being glad we did it, because it makes a significant difference. That was the most performance expensive thing we did initially.”
The second part of the next-gen FIFA team’s plan was to address player behaviours, and address some of the less authentic parts of the series. “We’ve always been, probably, at the forefront of animation technology in a videogame. We’ve got roughly ten times the animation on Xbox One and PS4 than on current gen consoles. We wanted to improve the behaviours of the players and the AI. A lot of that is around physics and decision making and the way they move, and we’ve got roughly four times the processing of decisions.”
Considering they have to build the next gen engine before they can even look at adding anything to the game, you can’t expect huge differences.

A couple of things they could do to help Madden is seamless loading times and a faster interface. And that would be about all I would expect from a first gen port and honestly it’s the least they should be able to do as Madden on the PS3 was very slow in those two area for me. Really kind of made it a chore to play when you wanted to look at stats and around in the various menus.
Microsoft says “Be patient, stock is coming.” to smaller retailers.
Various indie stores have contacted MCV over a lack of Xbox One stock for launch. Microsoft acknowledges there are shortages, but says it hopes to get to a free supply situation at some point in the future.
Well thank fuck for that. But when? One month, Two? Six?

Wow. Figured they would have learned their lesson from the last time they launched a supply-constrained console.
Or maybe it really is true that MS can’t get it right until the second or third iteration of anything.

I have to say, the fact that xbox online gameplay won’t cost a dime is a huge advantage against ps4, everything i had against xbox they removed after that terrible e3 announcement…minus the bad price cap haha.

You don’t need to be gold to do online multiplayer?
You do, previous post is trolling or misinformed.
