Cool. This bundle might be just the thing to convince some of my 360-owning friends to make the leap. If they do, then I guess I might be getting Titanfall soon after all. I was thinking March was already filled with too many great releases to make time for Titanfall.
Must feel good to be one of those folks that bought the console just 3 months ago in anticipation of Titanfall.
$499, is that USD? That is effectively a price-cut for all regions then, yeah?

I’d like to add one thing to the history derail. Eugen Weber’s Western Tradition is an excellent history review course available for free. It is dry and very 80’s, but wow does it contain a ton of information.
It’s basically Titanfall and a month of gold for free.
Still banging the cloud drum.

Didn’t it already come with a month of XBL gold?
Yes, it is effectively a $60 pricecut.

I don’t think so. Remotes use IR, not HDMI. I hadn’t heard of HDMI link, so I googled it, and it sounds pretty cool. The PS4 should be able to send signals to TVs that support it directly through HDMI cables.

In theory, it means that people should be able to control the PS4 through using the remote they use for the TV. In practice, I’m not sure it will work for most people, as HDMI CEC is very inconsistently implemented (and you’d have to plug the PS4 into the HDMI CEC enabled port, which would mean you couldn’t use it for any other device). My fairly expensive, 4 HDMI port TV has only one CEC-enabled port, which I need for my home cinema system.
Good thing I saved and bought the Xbox One on launch day…
I have a feeling both my brothers will be bitter too, since they were basically waiting for Titanfall. I got a lot of Forza 5 racing time on my XB1, more than all the other Forza games combined, so i got my money’s worth being an early adaptor. Now if the PS4 had already got a price cut, then I’d be a little bitter for buying too early.

one presentation discusses with interest the potential and capabilities of the Xbox 360’s Kinect camera, saying it generated “fairly normal webcam traffic” and was being evaluated as part of a wider program.
Documents previously revealed in the Guardian showed the NSA were exploring the video capabilities of game consoles for surveillance purposes.
Microsoft, the maker of Xbox, faced a privacy backlash last year when details emerged that the camera bundled with its new console, the Xbox One, would be always-on by default.
I’ve been initiated into the Inner Circle of the Xbox One update preview group. Who wants to touch me?
I’m assuming that this honour has been extended to any XBO connected to electricity and the Internet, and that I’m not special.
I got one of those things, yeah

Nope, you’re special. I didn’t even get an invite. :)
What is a XBOX Update Group? You get beta updates that might brick your console, but I assume there are also some perks like – free LIVE! GOLD! PREMIUM! membership? (or just – no ads?)
No, there are no other perks that I can tell. You’re just invited to preview and feedback on updates before they’re released.
I really want the Twitch streaming, so I’m looking forward to that update.
Interesting article going over the differentiating features of Twitch streaming on the PS4 and XBox One and the return of toasts (friend notification pop ups) on the One: Polygon: Twitch on the rise of Xbox One broadcasting and future of PS4 streaming
…
“In both instances (with Xbox One and the PS4) we worked closely with our partners to ensure their integrations matched what they wanted to roll out,” DiPietro said. “Because Sony wanted their integration built in on the hardware level, they handled it themselves with our guidance, while we worked on the app in-house for Microsoft, but ensured it aligned with their vision and roadmap.”

While the PS4’s app came first, the Xbox One’s app, due to hit on March 11, will arrive with some new features including the ability to archive streams and for viewers to join a broadcaster in game.
On the Xbox One, broadcasters can choose to snap the Twitch controls to a sidebar on the television or hide it entirely. Twitch is activated either by saying “Xbox, broadcast” or by three or four button pushes. Unlike the PS4 controller, the Xbox One controller doesn’t have a “share” button.
The March update that delivers Twitch will also bring back toasts to the Xbox, the little notification pop-ups that tell you when a friend is online. And, Gibson said, Twitch will have its own toasts, alerting you when a friend starts broadcasting. These pop-ups, which can be disabled, won’t appear on live broadcasts for others to see.

Sounds good. I hope the video encoding quality on the One will be a bit higher than it is now though.
