Oh yeah, it wasn’t a formal ban. But the system refused to let me buy gold again, even with a new card. On the Xbox it threw up a completely unhelpful error number, which Google revealed was a) basically a potential fraud flag on an account, and b) completely unknown to ground-level Microsoft support staff. I eventually got it working again via my PC, but given that I’d moved since I set the account up it took a huge amount of faffing about with security info, mandatory delays and so on.

I really love what I see here. A wonderful way to do reputation. Simple, looks good, easy to absorb. Nice work Xbox team!

If they’ve fixed “some teams auto down-rep everyone”, yes.
Phil Spencer named Head of Xbox.

I will now be leading the Xbox, Xbox Live, and creative teams including Xbox Music, Xbox Video and Microsoft Studios as we deliver the next generation of games and entertainment. Combining these teams will strengthen the connection between some of the world’s most innovative creators and those building the Xbox itself. I am incredibly proud of the talented Xbox employees around the world and believe, like they do, in the power of technology to bring games and entertainment to life across console, PC, tablet and mobile devices. It’s been a remarkable year for Xbox and I am honored to lead the team at this incredible time for Microsoft and the games industry.
Sounds like this guy should have been the head of Xbox in the first place instead of the idiot known as Don Mattrick.

I think Spencer was busy destroying the Playstation brand for most of the last generation…
(only sort of kidding)
You are thinking of Phil Harrison, or maybe your joke was that Spencer was Harrison, I dunno.
Phil Spector would have been a good choice as well

No, you’re totally right – I was thinking of Harrison. Damned Phils…
(“Why can’t I be Tommy or Philbert or something…?”)
Phil Spector would have been a good choice as well
The latest DLC podcast notes make this joke/error too.

The Games For Windows VP recently ran off after only 6 months. Games For Windows/gaming-on-PC-that-isn’t-Xbox will continue to be an afterthought under this guy.

No one does really, but the statement from him that gaming is important “across all platforms” to MS is a bit dishonest.

Yeah, that kind of statement has a real “check the box off before the shareholders squawk” feel to it.
I care. I want Microsoft to give the PC Gaming sector a lot more time, thought, and funding.

Finally, the xbox one will be getting a real app store. This is the same stuff I’ve been <HROSE>saying for the past 2 years.</HROSE> The same applications can run on windows phone, tablets, windows 8, and xbox one. This is starting to get interesting.
This potentially means a lot of cool stuff. When writing an xbox one game, the vast majority of that work will transfer directly to windows on the desktop and mobile. Shared source, cross platform, just different compiler targets. This is a major competitive advantage for MS over Sony, and a major win for PC gaming as well. You can see your game cross-platform, one purchase that runs on all devices, or charge individually. Saves, progress, configurations, everything works cross-platform.
Moving past gaming, an open app store means that things like Plex and XBMC will be coming to the xbox one, instantly making it a far superior media solution to the PS4.
I’ve always seen this as the natural evolution of the windows 8 “everything for all people” core design. It’s always seemed like manifest destiny to me, and I couldn’t see why they didn’t do it. I guess the answer is that they weren’t ready yet, on a technical level. But now it’s on the horizon. And if this works like I hope it will, it will be magical.
Yeah, this could be quite interesting going forward. I didn’t catch much of the BUILD stream, but from what I saw it looks promising.
DirectX 12 is the best your going to get from them when it comes to the PC anymore.
That ship sailed a long time ago. MS is pretty irrelevant to PC gaming and I can’t say that they have been missed.

If it is like the built in store win8 has, no thanks.
