Oh, I didn’t realize the CoD bundle was $100 more than the SO one. That’s insane.

They just sat on my desk, I don’t think they ever got moved. Two of them were Seagates. IIRC the other one was a La Cie.

A rumor has been going around that Microsoft is putting out a Gears of War collection for Xbox One.

Guess what just showed up in the media assets area of Xbox Wire?

1080p/60fps with dedicated servers? YES PLEASE!

I passed up on getting Gears of War Judgment recently because of those rumors. I loved the idea of that game and enjoyed it when I rented it (basic idea being, make the whole campaign more like Horde mode).

So I really hope that any Gears of War collection that might materialize includes Judgement since that’s the only entry in the series where I’m interested in the campaign.

I don’t think it will. If you look at the media assets, only stuff from Gears 1-3 are in the images.

I tried the beta version on Plex on the Xbox One. It doesn’t stream music yet, which is what I’m mostly interested in, only movies. It works well, though. I also found that there’s an app for my phone to stream music and movies, which is really cool.

Picked up a Sunset Overdrive bundle yesterday along with Forza Horizon 2. Really happy with my purchase so far. The white console provides a nice contrast next to my black PS4, and everything was really easy to get set up and running.

Also, I gotta say, both Sunset Overdrive and Forza Horizon 2 are proving to be some of the best gaming experiences I’ve had in a little while. Both games look great (as good as anything I’ve seen on PS4) and are a ton of fun to play. I’m loving the traversal to death in Sunset Overdrive and Forza is giving me the driving game satisfaction that the comparatively droll DriveClub failed to do. Planning on downloading Killer Instinct today and giving that a shot. I was on the fence for a good long while as it was really tough for me to justify having both a One and a PS4, but with a couple games I was really interested in right out of the gate, the new lower prices, and the impending Master Chief Collection, I feel really good about finally talking the plunge.

Oh, also, the rumble triggers on the controller are awesome.

Really glad to hear those impressions. I’m strongly tempted by the Sunset Overdrive bundle - I didn’t know anything about that game until a couple days ago, and I’ve always liked Insomniac’s stuff. Now that Forza Horizon 2 is out, and the rerelease of GTA V and Witcher 3 coming up soon I think I’ve got a reason to go next gen.

Next month’s Games with Gold adds Volgar the Viking for Xbox One. The 360 gets Viva Pinata: Trouble in Paradise, and in the second half of November, Red Faction Guerrilla.

Really enjoyed RF:G. Might even be some multiplayer going on in the second half of Nov.

My Xbox One should be waiting for me when I get home from work today. Can’t wait to take SO for a spin.

Sunset Overdrive is installing at a hilariously slow pace. 40 minutes in and it’s at 15%.

It’s like MS didn’t pay attention to the annoying install/patch process on the PS3 that absolutely no one loved.

And so the game said it was ready to start, but it was still at 21%, so I figured “why not”. Got to play the tutorial and then continue to wait for it to install. 45%, aprroximately an hour and 20 minutes after I last posted.

Seriously Microsoft/Insomniac?

Install sounds like your network maybe; mine installed in minutes.

I’m not seeing any unusual slowness on my PC though (speed tests and such). Maybe SO is a 4-terrabyte install and I didn’t realize the included hard drive on my Xbox One was so big.

So apparently Microsoft is looking at a die shrink and looking for a memory architecture engineer. Slim Xbox One is first thought, but my hope is they put some decent RAM in next version. I know that may anger some people who purchased the original but to put it on par with the PS4 would be nice. If I had the money to get a next-gen console there are two things holding me back for Xbox one vs. a PS4. PS4 has MLB the Show and faster speed/better resolution which are very important. 2k’s baseball games are horrible. One of my favorite sports games of all time was Tony LaRussa & High Heat Baseball for PC. I would print out loads of stats and pour over them for hours. What fun!

Only Nintendo could get away with changing the specs of their console partway through a generation.

Releasing a faster console inside a single generation would be unprecedented. It would segment the haves (the early adopters and biggest fans) from the have-nots. It’s never been done before-- but I believe it would be a fantastic idea.

Microsoft controls licensing. If they don’t certify, you can’t release your game. So even if they do upgrade the xbone platform a couple times, and the 2019 xbone super-slim is literally three times faster than the release console, they can still mandate that all released games run at a certain fidelity on the release console. If you happen to buy a newer one, you get higher resolution, or 60fps rather than 30fps, or higher-resolution textures, or whatever.

I think it could work-- and I think it would actually be a great idea. They really, no bullshit, should do this. Sony would never expect it in a million years.

But they won’t. The next xbone revision will be cheaper to produce, physically smaller, and exactly the same speed.
