Is there a wireless solution for Kinect? Or, failing that, an extension cable? (I assume it’s proprietary and not regular USB, but educate me if that’s not true.)
The reason I ask is my media cabinet is across the room from the TV set, so it’s not going to work out of the box. Wireless would be ideal, but I guess I’d be willing to haul out the device and an extension cable when necessary.
Important Gaming Cred Disclaimer: I couldn’t care less about Kinect, but it’s a factor for the kids and wife in deciding whether we are going XBO or PS4 for Christmas.
The Lizard Squad is taking credit for Xbox Live’s issues tonight.

Great. Thanks Lizard Squad. Thanks to you, I wasn’t getting any achievements tonight.
This is interesting, in that their linked results from last year proved to be far, far less than accurate when NPD released their numbers for Nov 2013. PS4 outsold Xbone then, despite Infoscout reporting a 2:1 advantage to MS.
Edit - though of course NPD tracks the trading month, rather than just BF, I guess.
I guess if there’s any thread where you’ll see posters writing off JRPGs as a “shit genre”, it’s an Xbox thread, huh?
Well, okay, but they better keep their filthy hacker mitts off the Playstation network!

I just wanted to post that I’m enjoying the heck out of my new Xbox one!!! Far Cry 4 currently, then maybe I’ll go back and finish Metro redux. I haven’t been able to get so many games for so little since I got a PS2 (2007) and got all the older, highly rated titles used! Microsoft is seriously making it rain!
Carry on…

They’ve already been there. The good thing I guess is that they never seem to target two networks at the same time.
Good news for those of us with both systems!

And with PC, iOS, Android, 3DS, Vita and Wii, you’ll always be able to play a game on, well, something.
Oh, and back to the importance of Xbox in India, keep in mind a couple of facts.
-
The Xbox One console is ONLY officially available to the general public in India through Amazon.com. Other retailers can carry the Xbox One, but they “grey market” imports.
-
At this point, less than 1500 Xbox One consoles have been sold in India. Meanwhile, Sony is on-track to sell 50k PS4 consoles in India by the end of the year.
Retailers have been offered Xbox One kiosks to demo the console to prospective buyers. Interested customers can then place an order on Amazon India in-store itself with the retailer receiving a cut of the sale.

Yep, MS doesn’t care about gaming in India. But India has three times the population of the USA, they all speak English, they have large highly educated castes, their economy is rapidly improving, and they’re a friendly democracy. Ignoring India is as stupid as ignoring China.
Considering where Satya Nadella was born and raised, I doubt they’re going to ignore India. But just dumping Xbox Ones over there doesn’t instantly mean they’re going to scoop them up. It’s like the NFL trying to get the Europeans to accept American Football. It takes time.
I think the biggest issue is the economy in India. I mean, Sony is doing much better with the PS4 than Microsoft with the Xbox One in India, but $50k still isn’t exactly gangbusters in a country of 1.2 billion. It just isn’t feasible to sell the consoles at a profit while staying within the grasp of the average citizen.

I work with a ton of Indians in the US. Nobody is more dismissive towards India than those guys.
I have no stake in this. I don’t have an Xbox One, and if I did, I’d buy the Halo collection in a heartbeat even if matchmaking was entirely useless; I love the franchise and I’d enjoy just playing through the single player again.
But I keep seeing updates on Joystiq about ongoing problems. Are they exaggerating a vocal minority with isolated problems? They certainly present the narrative that it’s never been satisfactory, that it’s improved but still isn’t good enough.
Works fine for my kids and me when we try it now. But I still hear about issues too. I guess it’s definitely better but not perfect yet.
The game itself is an absolute blast. We all love it.

I haven’t tried to get into too many online games, but I have experienced some difficulties getting matched with other players. Might be for the best, as I’ve never played any Halo game before and barely get the mechanics. Still enjoying the campaign though.

So my Xbox 1 died the other day. Right about 375 days after purchase. No idea why but popular opinion is that a power surge fried it.
Thankfully I did have the extended protection from Gamestop, so I just brought it back today and walked out with a new system. The cool part was that the only new systems they have in stock with Kinect also have Assassin’s Creed Unity and Blag Flag packed in, so I basically just got 2 free games.
That’s… pretty much the problem with the Halo collection. Matchmaking is horrific.
