Yes and no. There are point limits on how you build your Ultimate Team and natural tribalism/loyalty to your local heroes plays a big role for the majority of players. EA has purposefully constructed the system so that you can’t just gather up all the best real world players and dominate. Some of the “best” possible player stats are buried in low-level outfits, so there’s an element of sacrifice there.

The EA infographic from last year sums it up.

Just want to add that I only use gift cards for Xbox Live and PSN. Neither Microsoft nor SONY will ever see my credit card details.
Amazon is selling those cards online with instant delivery so no reason not doing that.

I started doing that after the big hack crap hit both, not that it’s super comforting with the barrage of merchant security bungles in the last year and a half.

So there’s a Rosetta Stone app out now that apparently is for English or Spanish learners only. It’s free but I dunno if there are puchaseables inside or not or how well it works.

April OS preview also rolling out. Looks like GameHub updates, etc.

Good month coming up for GWG.

  • Pool Nation FX ($9.99 ERP): Available all month on Xbox One
  • Child of Light ($14.99 ERP): Available all month on Xbox One
  • Gears of War: Judgment ($19.99 ERP): Available from April 1-15 on Xbox 360
  • Terraria ($14.99 ERP): Available from April 1-15 on Xbox 360
  • Assassin’s Creed IV Black Flag ($29.99 ERP): Available from April 16-31 on Xbox 360
  • Army of Two: The Devil’s Cartel ($19.99 ERP): Available from April 16-31 on Xbox 360

Looks like a better month on 360 than the One.

The XBO Games With Gold have been fairly underwhelming for me. I sometimes don’t even bother claiming them. My PS4 library is much bigger and better because of PS+. MS need to raise their game.

Maybe, but I’ve seen both Child of Light & Pool Nation in game of the month threads here.

I’m not saying they’re bad games. I’m just commenting on the fact that the 360 gets a great 2D minecraft-a-like, one of the best pirate games ever, the last Gears of War game, and a mediocre shooter. Just going by ERP, the 360 is getting $60 more value.

If Microsoft wants to impress me with the value of Live’s Games with Gold on the Xbox One, they’re doing a really good job of making me want to go in the kid’s room and play on the 360.

Probably because of the dearth of titles on the One so far, not to mention contractually they may not be able to do that for some time. Not particularly happy about it myself but at least there are some decent titles in there.

Really? I’ve had a lot of hours of fun with the kids thanks to the Xbox One freebies.

We spent quite a lot of time on Chariot, Guacamelee, Worms, #IDARB and this months Rayman Legends is incredibly good. The kids have been playing it co-op all of last weekend.

I’m really looking forward to Child of Light too. As for the pool game, I used to enjoy them once upon a time on PC. So we’ll see.

I don’t value my games by ERP and, for me, the Xbox One offerings have been great. And not least of all because they have let me discover great games I probably wouldn’t have bought for free and keep them forever. I’m not complaining about the value on offer.

Wendelius

Yeah, sorry. Guacamelee and IDARB weren’t hits here, and my kids (and me) are Worms’ed out. Rayman Legends has been the best thing so far.

I don’t care about ERP so much, but seeing the comparison between 360 and One puts it into perspective. The One’s “freebie” Gold games have just not been as good.

Yeah, the Games with Gold for Xbone have been anemic. It seems weird, to give such great stuff to the 360, as all it does is make me want to go back to the 360, I think I might’ve packed it up too soon. Or go for the PS4, which, this might just be a grass is greener thing, but it seems to have had a better selection of free games come down the pipe.

As someone on the other side of the fence, the grass is still pretty brown. PS+ quality has dropped significantly since the PS4 came out and the best titles, imo, are still offered on the PS3.

Which makes sense considering the age of the current consoles vs the age of the previous generation. Note, for instance, that all the 360 games offered are older than the Xbox One.

I get why it’s happening. I know the timing sucks. It just sucks to look at the Xbox One list and then look at the 360 list and realize how much of a better deal the last gen is getting for Live.

Yeah, it’s just weird, as sort of like Steam Sales*, it’s incentivises not buying the new consoles and not buying games.

*In the steam sale thing, it’s more the case of not buying things at launch.

Forza Horizon 2 Presents Fast & Furious is now up, and free until April 10th:

Yea, had to change it to paypal then unlink the CC from the paypal account to get the 360s greedy paws away from my CC.

Neverwinter now available for download but doesn’t unlock till Tuesday afternoon. Saw some folks on Twitch playing it with press passes though.
