Xbox One GwG games are always free for two months.

Edit: wait, Pool Nation has been free for what, three months now? And Castlestorm was only one month? That’s weird.

I see what you did there! :)

1TB Xbox One officially announced. Comes with the new controller. (The controller revision isn’t a big deal. It’s got a 3.5mm jack on the bottom.)

1TB Xbox One - Starts selling on June 16th. $399

500GB model permanently dropped to $349.

Who could’ve thunk 500Gb was anemic. 2 years later, 1TB is still anemic.

You can install and run games from USB though, yeah?

I have still to enter this gen of console and still don’t see myself doing so.

Price drop is a big deal, and Sony will be forced to match it.

It’s not about 500GB being anemic so much as that 500GB drives will shortly be more expensive than 1TB drives. My guess is the 500GB model will be phased out entirely over the next year, followed by another price cut for the 1TB model possibly alongside the now-common “slim” re-release.

Yup. Even in my business, 500GB is close to becoming a specialty order.

I wanted the new controller, had to spend $65 for the special forces edition one on Amazon. If anyone finds the headphone jack controller for cheaper please post it.

No Kinect version announced. Does that make it officially dead? Wouldn’t mind picking up a Kinect bundled version on clearance when stores make room for the new 1TB models.

I wouldn’t mind a Kinect either, but every place I look it’s selling for $150 and I just don’t want it that much.

Hasn’t it already been $350 for a long time, with Sony not matching it and staying in the sales lead? If Microsoft is phasing out the 500GB model, $400 for the 1TB model is kind of a price increase.

Kinect died as soon as Microsoft separated it from the console. Sure, you can pick one up from their store and at some retailers, but it’s dead.

I can’t even think of a Kinect game that came out since Fantasia. In fact, I’m having a hard time thinking of any recent games with Kinect optional features. Madden, I guess? You can call plays out loud in that one I think.

You’re actually better off getting the 500gb version and using the $50 towards a 2TB USB drive for ~$80, there’s plenty to be had out there. There’s no performance difference between external USB 3.0 storage and the internal drive.

Here’s the covert forces controller link at Amazon if anyone is interested:

I guess a $5 premium over the already overpriced controllers isn’t a bad deal, but I hate payin full retail!

I’m probably going to use my Kinect2 for Windows 10’s Hello. You don’t have to do passwords anymore. Just plop down in front of your system and it unlocks. You just need a Kinect-class camera that does infrared and mapping. That way, it can’t be fooled by someone holding up a photo of you.

I always assumed that I would eventually get an Xbox One, but there’s nothing currently or even on the horizon for the system that remotely interests me. I’ve gotten less use out of my ps4 than I expected, but it was still worthwhile, at least.

Yeah, all that matters are exclusives, and neither console has anything I’m willing to purchase an entire console to play. Every previous generation since the original Xbox, there’s been a console-exclusive Bioware RPG.

I bought a PS4 last year, sold it soon after, bought another one two months ago for Bloodbourne and TW3. Sold it a few weeks later after I really didn’t like Bloodbourne. Just bought an Xbox One as I have to try every darn console ever. Hate the UI compared to the PS4, which I really didn’t like much either. Bought TW3 and FC4. Love both of them…once I’m done with them, probably sell the xbone.

They dropped the price 6 months ago and Sony didn’t have to do anything to consistently outsell the Xbox One til now. Only MS are pretending they’ve announced a price cut today. All they’ve really done is introduce a more expensive model as if that’s going to help.

Xbox and Oculus Partner to Change the Face of Virtual Reality

This is pretty big news… for Windows 10 and Xbox One.

Bad news for PS4…

So it seems… until you read the small print.

Xbox One games will be playable on Oculus Rift. We’re happy to announce that we’re bringing the same Xbox One streaming capability to the Rift, a feature that’s only possible through Windows 10. You can play your favorite Xbox One games, like Halo, Forza, Sunset Overdrive and more, on your own virtual reality cinema screen.

How many users really want to play on a ‘virtual reality cinema screen’. It’s not like you’re getting a let’s say Forza or Halo VR experience. You just get the game projected onto a 2D screen in a 3D space. Whooopeedeedoo. And you need to stream it via your PC to do that.
