Ugh, I couldn’t stand it. I wanted to, as I like R&C quite a bit.
I think it’s because I tend to prefer slower/weightier open world games (I <3 Batman), while Sunset Overdrive felt lightweight and flimsy (and sloppy?). It seemed the the heart of the game was trampolining off cars and shooting while sliding on ropes, neither of which sat well with me.

I don’t think it’s physically possible to enjoy pool nation
Just as an update, but my constantly-crashing Elite game seems to have been taken care of by playing in Solo mode (instead of Open Play). Oh, well. Not like anyone on my friends list is playing, anyway. :/
Also as an update, Hulu Plus had an update yesterday. It’s slightly prettier, but it works much much worse now in snap mode. I think it detected somehow the praise I was heaping its way about how seamless it is. So they decided to change it. Now if I’m watching a show and I start a game, and then snap Hulu Plus, it no longer smoothly keeps playing from the same point where it left off. Grrrrrr. Stupid patch that makes things worse.

Spent a few days with the Xbox One.
The UI sucks a bit, too tabby and too much scrolling to find stuff, too many layers as well making it not as simple as it should be. Briowsing the store is more of a chore than Steams interface. I had one issue where i plugged my satelite box in to the xbox and configured my sound plate as well and it screwed my TV up. It worked to start with then no sound, then no picture but sound in the end I could either have a picture or some sound but not both.
In the end I had to unplug the whole lot and start over and eventually managed to fix it. Still can’t get teh Xbox to send sound over optical directly to the soundplate no matter what I tried so am having to make do with sound out of the TV for now.
To games. I got Forza 5 and it’s not bad not as much stuff as FZ4 but it sure looks good, 30fps is not great though and the loading times still suck.
I also got FH2 and it is just superb, if they can reproduce this in FZ6 they will have a winner there, really loving FH2 I played FH2 on the 360 but this is just another level, looks great, handles well and everything moves along nicely.
I also got Halo collection and Destiny but not really got round to trying them yet.
Pre ordering FZ6 and Rory Mcilroy golf which are going to be my next two games after Ipick up Sunset Overdrive tomorrow with my game points.
So far pretty impressed.
I’m pretty sure Forza 5 is 60fps, while FH2 is 30fps. FH2 is still the much better game though.
Forza 6 will get the weather and night time from FH2, but it will still be a closed circuit racer like Forza 5, and not the open world racer like FH2.

Surprised at that, FZ5 doesn’t feel that smooth at all.
A interesting look at the history of Xbox with an interview of Phil Spencer, Peter Moore, and Seamus Blackley (at the same panel):
The only off point IMHO is the interviewer who more often than not seems more interested in the next question than maybe going further into some of the answers given. But it’s just a minor issue, and they were probably limited by time, and the video is definitely well worth watching.
That was really great. Thanks for sharing that.
Shamus was the chief instigator in getting a lot of great stories out of the other two, I thought. More so than the interviewer.
Any chance they will repeat Xbox 360 games on Games for Gold (like Halo: Reach)? There are some I missed over the years, maybe I should just buy them used?
I doubt it. I can just see the shitstorm from people who’ve had gold all the time if they repeated a game.
That being said, has the longer running PSN+ program repeated games? If they have, then I’m sure MS will follow.

On the other hand, they finally fixed the bug where the pause text would never leave the screen after unpausing, and you had to quit the show and restart it to get rid of the text. One step forward, one step back.
If I turn off the console in the middle of downloading a game, will it resume where it left off when I turn the console back on?
If you have the default ‘instant on’ power setting then the Xbox will continue to download till done.
Do you mean the Xbox will shut off automatically when it’s done downloading?
Sort of. When you’re in ‘intant on’ mode, you’re not fully turned off. It’s kind of like sleep mode in windows, where it wakes up really quick compared to booting from scratch. And while it’s in this mode, it will keep downloading whatever you’re downloading. I have an external USB 3 hard drive, and it keeps the hard drive active until it’s done with the download, then the hard drive light goes off. So I can tell that it kept it powered up until the download was done. But obviously while in this mode, it still takes more power than if you’re not in this mode. It still is constantly listening on the Kinect for me to say “Xbox On”, for example.

It’s like the sleep mode in any modern tablet or phone. It’s low-powered enough that it can go for days without draining the battery, but it can still continue downloading whatever you started, get notifications, etc.
