So,when playing games like Fifa 15 and doing something awesome, how do you tell the xbox to save that particular thing to this…upload app? I see the xbox randomly deciding itself what replays to save it seems, but I’d like some control over that, like the “share” button on PS4.

You say “Xbox, record that”, and it records the last 30 seconds. Then you can edit it in the upload app. If you don’t have a Kinect, I believe you double tap the Xbox button and then there’s a button prompt there. But I’ve got Kinect so I’ve never used that. I have used the screenshot taking like that, where you double tap and then press Y to take the screenshot. I’ve used that in Witcher 3 a few times.

Ah, double tapping the xbox button - I’ll have to try that :-) No kinect here. I don’t see the use for it. Atleast not at that crazy prize (over 150 dollars for that feature)

Okay, sorry to keep bugging about this - but I got a message I was in the preview program and had to download and install the app. I did this, but I see it seems my console is “pending” to enroll in the public preview program? Is THAT where I have to wait for MS to accept me? I don’t see anywhere the early access games, nor the backwards compatibility either, so I’m guessing I’m not fully in yet?

edit: OH, and the mails you get - why is that in such a small area of the screen? Cant I enlarge it somehow?

And why the heck does the xbox one randomly start games whenever I press “B” to exit whatever I’m in, and return to the main menu?

Yes, now you’re waiting. This part only takes a day IIRC.

As for messages being snapped to one side, yes, that’s a more recent update that added that. It used to be full screen by default. I guess they figured reading messages should be a snapped app to one side. Shrug.

Whenever you press B, you return to the last thing you were doing. So if you had a game running already, or watching TV, or watching something on Netflix or Hulu Plus or HBO Go, or Plex, or whatever, it will just go back to that last thing, continuing right where you left off. But if you quit that last game already, or that other activity has already been taken out of memory, then it starts it up again. It is a little annoying when you don’t mean to start up the game again, and still happens to me regularly.

When I haven’t quit the last game, then it’s pretty convenient to get back to it and keep going from wherever I was.

Thanks Rock - I appreciate the answers. It always is a little daunting to learn the ways of a new machine! :-)

Starting tomorrow, this week’s Deals with Gold will include Tomb Raider’s Definitive Edition for only $9.90. I’ve already played through the game on the PC (or was it the 360? I think it was the PC). But it might be worth double dipping for that low a price.

I dunno about that. I supremely hate paying for the same game twice, even if it is on different platforms.

Have made a few exceptions though…

Thanks - I may get that.

Oh - I get into the preview thing, and download my old Keflings games and Zuma, much to my GF’s delight. I can’t seem to see the Games Preview anywhere though - Can anyone tell me where they find that?

Thanks for the invite, I downloaded the app so I gather I just wait for confirmation and it will install?

It seems I can invite people as well if anyone else wants in.

Yeah, it took a few days, and I was in suddenly. No notification, but I noticed in the app itself, where you can see whether you are enrolled or not.

Oh - let me know if you see where the Games Preview thingie is - thanks!

  1. Go to Store on Home, then choose Games from the right column.
  2. Scroll to the right past the Featured section to get to the second column, where you see New Releases and Coming Soon.
  3. Scroll down. Game Previews are at the bottom of the list.

Nope, nothing there - I’m guessing its a country feature then.

According to Xbox support, it depends on the publishers. But so far no preview games are available in Scandinavia (among others), which explains (if support is right) why there is no Game Previews section (since none of the games are available).

The other explanation is that support didn’t know what they were talking about, and that the feature itself is only rolled out to some selected countries.

Well tomorrow is the release date for Rory Mcilroy Golf which I shall be picking up in celebration of The Open this weekend at St Andrews, all good sport at the moment what with The Ashes as well.

The only two games listed under the Games Preview section for me are Elite and Long Dark. I bought Elite. Long Dark is a survival sim of some kind, and other than Don’t Starve, I haven’t really ventured into that genre yet. I’m not sure if it’s for me. The videos online of the steam version do make it look kinda interesting.

New bundle on Amazon - Xbox One + Halo MCC + Batman Arkham Knight for $350:

Thanks Brakara - I guess that explains it!

Well I was going to pick up RM Golf but the reviews on teh game are dire. 2 years to make, only 8 courses, no career mode per say,no golf clubhouse set up, very little additional content. Compared to TW14 it’s so pared down. Really disappointed so bought Golf Club on the PC which is 40% off and having played a few holes it’s looking damn good.
