Multiple channels. Depending on the model, you can hook up a single or multiple antennae, and the DVR will record as many channels as it’s set up to do. My current set up does two, but at one point I could record up to six channels.
Yes, that was before I had kids. :)
I need Duck Tales to make it over or my boys are going to kill me.
Thanks for the response. Does it seem like the XBox One could handle two channels at the same time? I’m feeling like this might be the OTA DVR solution I go with, I’m just nervous about not being able to open up a browser and stream from something like NBCs website fullscreen on the TV.

Yes, there have been hardware revisions, but in favor of the new units. The 1tb version should let you install more games before needing an external drive (there was ~320gb usable space on the original), and the new controller version has a standard headset jack instead of their custom connector.
Seems like Sony outfoxed them this gen and they are having to become more standardized and less “haha you have to buy more widgets from us to do regular stuff.” Giving the market what it wants, who knew that would work?
I will say that adding a USB connected external drive to the Xbox One works really well if you need more space.

The USB adapter doesn’t say anything about being able to do more than one channel at a time, so I’m guessing you probably can’t do more than one (unless the XBO supports multiple adapters?) Denny may know more about this, though – I haven’t spent a lot of time looking at it (yet).
Many thanks RickH, I think I will move forward with asking for one of the new bundles for my birthday.
I would like an answer to this as well. With WMC, you can plug in two Happauge USB tuners into a USB hub and, voila, you get dual tuners. If the XB1 can do this, that would be sweet.
The Gamescon announcements have been freaking spectacular. This time next year I may own more XB1 games than PS4 games.

I’ve been broadcasting GTA V on Twitch at night all week. So far zero viewers! Lol. It’s super easy with the integrated app though.
Does it use upstream bandwidth even if no one is watching? I’d assume they programmed it better than that and it only “pulls” the feed when it’s being watched.

Alas, no insight yet, but I’m anxiously awaiting the feature as we depend on Media Center for all our network programming right now. (Though if Hulu adds the rumored $12/13-month commercial-free option that might change.)
The Xbox certainly has the CPU horsepower by itself to DVR two channels at once, based on having no issues using my Media Center PC, which is less powerful than the Xbox One (it’s an old Core i3), while recording four channels simultaneously. It’s probably more a memory/CPU allocation thing – how much can you devote to recording while guaranteeing games the expected CPU and i/o bandwidth?
I know, it’s sports, so this may not get much traction here, but The Verge is saying the redesigned NFL app on Xbox is amazing.
Microsoft has redesigned the app with a fresh interface and added what it’s calling Next Gen Stats, which leverage the data fed from the trackers in every NFL player’s uniform. Next Gen Stats replays look like they were pulled right out of Madden or another football video game, and they display information such as velocity, top speed, and distance traveled for each player on the field. Viewers can see the exact routes that each player took during a play and analyze just like a coach on the field. Microsoft says that the new app supports fantasy football programs from NFL.com, CBS, and Yahoo, and it will let fantasy players track their teams and stats in real time every game day.
That sounds pretty cool, even better that it’s free. I was thinking you might have to have some kind of Red Zone subscription or something. Can you watch any games with that, or would it be subject to normal blackouts, regional team, that sort of thing?
Titanfall tonight anyone? Would be great if we could get a few people…

I’d like to play, though I have to add my standard disclaimer that it’ll probably be closer to 10pm PST when I’m on, so don’t wait up …
Is the current NFL app US only?
I might be game. Very rusty, though. What time?

Thanks to the XBL friend who threw me a preview invite! (thinking it’s you, Rock8, but the message doesn’t say). ((sorry, I couldn’t stop at 9999))
This should be interesting for reasons beyond BC. It’s already interesting to see how they are trying to gamify the testing & fedback process.
Ugh sorry guys, I had a last minute thing I needed to go out to and didn’t get back till late. Pogue is usually available around 10pm PST, which is fine for me usually, not sure about everyone else. IF you’re rusty and we can get 4 people together I figure we can do the horde mode thing since it’s against AI for starters.
Maybe should start up a separate thread about XB1 QT3 sessions and see if we can’t get something regularly organized. Would be cool especially for new games coming out–thinking stuff like Gears of War sessions or Forza 6 down the road, but for Titanfall or whatever too.
…and if anyone can get me a Preview invite that’d be awesome :)

Looks like there’s an article on Gamespot that seems to confirm that DLC purchased for 360 games should be accessible with back compat on the Xbone. I’m relieved to hear that, I would enjoy going through the Mass Effect games again and pretty much bought all the DLC.
Whoops, just noticed you guys were working on setting up a game and I totally missed it. Maybe we should get a new thread going for that sort of thing? Seems like a new thread for each game looking for players would get messy, but one thread for all games would be just as messy. Maybe one per platform?
