Pretty decent ep of ZP, and I don’t really “get” fighting games either, but you’d think he would have at least TRIED to play it with another person, rather than just against the AI.

Wasn’t a very good episode. Mostly though because it’s like kicking a baby. It’s not going to fight back.

Fighting games are made to play against other people sitting beside you – if you aren’t doing that, you really are just doing it wrong.

If you put a single-player mode in your game, expect people to review it. Don’t dyack the issue by telling critics they’re doing it wrong.

I do not intend to continue the Dyack pile-on in this thread (I’ve been doing plenty of that in the other two), but I have to say, he really did doom himself to a lifetime (as it’s reckoned in Internet time) of ridicule such as this coinage.

Back on-topic, I checked the ZP page at the Escapist just last night and didn’t see the SC4 review listed… I enjoyed the AoC one pretty well though.

I didn’t say he was doing it wrong. He was perfectly accurate in all his criticisms (though I don’t think his grab example actually works on hard). But his humor fell flat because it was all colored by the fact that he hasn’t actually experienced the game mechanics yet, because you simply don’t get them in single player.

edit: It would be like complaining that BF1942 is shit because the AI doesn’t do anything. It’s true, but it’s also missing the point, and the majority of the game.
