That, that was the real thing. Great to see him back in top form. FEEL the hate. Yes.
If only the Demon’s Souls one would have been like this. Sigh.
No kidding. If there was ever an argument for a reviewer not playing the game right, it’s this one. Also he is very confusing. One minute he talks about wasting all your health and ammo defending a little sister (once again, he is doing it wrong) the next he talks about how the game is so easy you only need a few core plasmids and breezed through the end.
+1.
Of course, I remember his review of the first game, which was chock-full of irony because he took a dump on it immediately after his Psychonauts review, in which he complained about reviewers who didn’t pay attention to the writing.
From the review, he seems to have missed the point of the sister-defense setups. Who cares if the Adam they yield is important, they’re just damned fun. In saying he stopped doing them he skipped a large portion of the game.

“Reviewer disagrees with me, and is therefore an idiot”, news at 11.

Somehow, I thought about lambasting you, psu_13, for decloaking from a rather lengthy lurk to post a lukewarm cliché that barely has any relevance to the topic at hand. The irony that I’d be replying to your runny-clownface-makeup of a joke with yet another trite forum mainstay, however, gave me pause.
That is when I realized the genius of your post. There has to be thirteen-nay-twenty! levels of ironic significance shooting back and forth like loose protons through a double-slit! You are, indeed, the manifestation of a French trans-post-modernist! I cannot even congratulate you for your momentous achievement, for that would imply that I fully understand it. The best I can do is look on, grim-faced, and say that I will try to understand.
I’d say he’s spot-on in terms of his cynicism toward the need for a sequel and the premise of playing as Super Daddy being ridiculous as far as the fluff goes. The game part is certainly better in terms of play mechanics, but I can’t disagree with him as far as what they did with the story and universe.
When will you people learn that Yahtzee is not a game critic.
Probably about the same time the gaming public overall figures out there’s no such thing as an “objective review.”

But… but that was only, like, two paragraphs.

I haven’t played Bioshock 2, so I wonder whether he’s “wrong” because Bioshock 2’s game mechanics are so much better and it’s such a fun game regardless of story (because, let’s be honest, from a mechanics standpoint, Bioshock 1 was “meh”), or is he “wrong” because Bioshock 2’s story is actually different in significant details from what he described?

All I’m saying is that even if Yahtzee harshes on my FAVORITEST GAME EVAR the only justified reason to bitch in this thread is if he publishes a review without enough jokes.

See, the thing is, Croshaw is not just funny, he’s smart and funny. Sometimes there’s a dip in his smart. That smarts, dig?
Wow, fanboi rage against Bioshock 2.
Bioshock -> more iconic, better “game as media/art/whatever”, not really a shooter but more of a resource-gathering adventure disguised as a shooter (aka System Shock 2)
Bioshock 2 -> less iconic, better game, better shooter.
not long; did read
I wonder how many years it’s going to be before I can watch this on my iPhone

I only take issue with one thing…
Rapture never fell. The game makes it obvious (via scripted sequences) in both games that Rapture is repaired by Big Daddies. In B2, you see one very early on outside of a window at the end of a hallway that you must travel down, repairing a leak in the window, where the water actually stops flowing.
Other than that… whatever, it’s Yahtzee.
