Of course it’s well known that you can block bullets with katanas but traditionally you’re supposed to move it around as you do so

Priceless.

Just Cause 2

“It’s fun.”

That review was great. Definitely getting this game once it comes down in price.

He is right because it is fun.

I agree with Yahtzee on nearly all counts this week. Up until I got to the last 3 main missions in Just Cause 2 I would have said “story? Who cares about the story?”, but the last 3 missions have such an eye-roll inducing story that it really did make me care. It made me contemplate a universe in which we could have a Just Cause 2 which was the awesome sandbox it is now AND had a better main story. That would definitely have been ideal. Heck, I’d settle for a main story that’s as good as it is in the first 4 missions of the game.

This week, Silent Hill: Shattered Memories.

Lots of good points, but I still say he went easy on it in the end. SH:SM is one of the worst games I’ve played in the last year or so. And yes, that pronouncement does factor in my 10-year love of the series and hatred for what it has become.

I think he went easy on it for the same reason you’re the opposite. He always talks about being a huge fan of the series and I reckon he’s a bit sad they gave this tripe the same name.

This week: Splinter Cell : Conviction. A bit too harsh?

Loved the review. I could never get into the Splinter Cell games either, but now I wanna try the Hitman games. ;)

I couldn’t get into the Splinter Cell games after the first one.

I also couldn’t get into the Hitman games, though I only tried… er… the second one I think? I don’t know, that series has a confusing naming convention, and I never get them right.

Wait, so Yahtzee wrote a novel and you can pre-order it on Amazon and Amazon.co.uk?

Apparently he did indeed!

The Hitman series is really good. Skip the first one (most of the missions are repeated in the… third?), and ignore the over-arching story. Think of each mission as an individual puzzle.

“The enemy AI must have been dropped on its head as a subroutine.”

Love it.

The Hitman series has gotten better with every installment. Hitman: Blood Money is an amazing game, Contracts is pretty decent, Hitman 2 is so-so, and Hitman 1 is so terrible I’m amazed they made any sequels to it.

Hitman is one of those great games where, sure, you can beat the level, but you just know that you can beat it BETTER.

Yeah, i thought so. I liked Conviction although some of his points about the AI are valid.

Considering I was just playing through TRON 2.0 this weekend, I found that line especially LOL-worthy.

“Stop executing escape routine!”

That was my favorite part of the Tron game.

My favorite guard line is actually “Stop running!”. It’s such a perfect stealth pun.
