This week World of Warcraft: Cataclysm

Loved the review.

Even if his humour doesn’t work for you, Extra Punctuation shows that he knows what he’s talking about.
Plus there’s usually always an intellegent and honest review hidden beneath the rude jokes

The most shocking part of the review for me was the revelation that Super Mario All-Stars was actually released back in December, and I must have blinked and missed it because it’s already entered gouged-by-resellers territory.

Same here. I’ve never heard of Super Mario All-Stars until now. I wonder what it is? It seems strange that there’s a Mario game (is it a Mario game? All-Stars seems to imply that perhaps it isn’t) that I’ve never heard of that came out last month.

Edit: Ah, some googling reveals it’s just a compilation of the older Mario games. No wonder it wasn’t heavily marketed.

Yes, it’s the same Mario All-Stars that was on the SNES. So you can play it and see exactly how little the 2D Marios have evolved. They couldn’t at least throw in Mario World?

Guess it doesn’t matter; I’m not buying it anyway.

You couldn’t buy it if you wanted to, unless you feel like shelling out $100+. When Nintendo says limited, apparently they mean it.

Shit it’s not enough now that Nintendo shamelessly rips off their old stuff ad naseum, but now they’re ripping off Atlus’s marketing.

I just liked the (repeat) use of “de jour”. Coz, you know, WoW is for berks!

I don’t understand this comment. Mario 1, 2, and 3 are all radically different games. I’d say they evolved quite a bit over that stretch.

Yeah, I guess I wasn’t terribly clear.

I agree with you, especially considering that the US Mario 2 was an wasn’t even a Mario game in Japan. But I’m saying that since then, not a whole lot has changed. Yes, you get ridable Yoshi and climbing grates in Super Mario World. But if you’re not playing multiplayer, (and you almost don’t want to for the later levels), there’s little to recommend New SMB Wii.

OK, you’ll get no argument from me there. In fact, Nintendo has driven ALL of its franchise games into the ground over the past decade.

ALL? Definitely not PIKMIN or MOTHER…

Mother never gets any love. :(

I, too, started a new mage and got burned out at level 60! I also have a lvl80 hunter, so maybe I’ll use that to at least see the new content.

This Week: Fable 3
Note: Contains endgame story spoilers.

I’m going to skip it this week. I want to go into Fable 3 completely fresh, that way I can be disappointed with it just like everyone else was at launch. sob.

He briefly touches on something I’ve noticed now and then in games, which is what is “good” and what is “evil” occasionally seems unrelated to how I’d apply the labels. Usually it’s obvious (save the kittens or slaughter the orphans), but now and then it seems reversed.

It is also occasionally completely arbitrary, like a certain endgame choice in Mass Effect 2. That one still drives me up the wall.

Yeah, good call. Spoilers galore in this episode. Not that it matters, since by the time Fable 3 gets released for the PC I’ll be busy playing Grimoire.
