Now that I’ve watched the video… he doesn’t say anything about the normal KZ3 controls at all, he’s just complaining about the optional Move controls.
Why does he spend so much time bitching about Americans insisting on enemies having British accents when the game was made in the Netherlands?

Because going off on tangential rants is part of his shtick?
Usually said rants actually stem from a factually accurate observation about the game in question, though. Then again, after the Bulletstorm cover system thing, maybe he’s just gone off his nut for good at this point.

From his Twitter:
“Lol KIllzone 3 was made by the Dutch” I KNOW, fact fans. But it was specifically made to appeal to the American market.
Besides, in this age of multinationals & outsourcing, a dev’s worldly location is about as relevant as the colour of the chairs they sit on
He does actually, particularly about the shoulder buttons which were a huge annoyance for me too in KillZone2 @ 2:55
Yeah, not really buying it. Sure, Killzone is made in the Halo/CoD mold, but at no point did any American exec demand the Helghast be voiced by Bob Hoskins. It’s just another way to differentiate between the two groups in the game, and you obviously give the American voices to the protagonists because you want it to appeal to Americans, the largest potential market for the game. But I don’t think there’s any significance to the fact that the Helghast ended up with British accents beyond the idea of nobody being able to take a planet full of evil Australians seriously.
At this point I think it’s pretty clear that there isn’t really a comfortable way to map out a shooter control scheme on the Dual Shock 3. I actually prefer the R1 button as the fire button, because goddamn do I hate those “trigger” buttons.
Right, he did mention the trigger/crouch thing. That’s not related to the sluggishness that was criticised about KZ2, though.
By the way, my PS3 triggers work much better since I got some simple clip-on plastic pieces for the L2/R2 buttons that curve outward in a proper trigger shape. Highly recommended.
OMG I got those too! Totally love 'em. I wish they came like that standard.

I had those, but then I dropped the controller and one of them broke…
Then, instead of spending more money I went the extra mile and purchased a “xcm cross battle adapter” which allows one to connect a wired xbox 360 controller to the PS 3. I am seriously loving that device.
Sony should be including a set of those clip-ons with every controller, and then sending out a letter of apology to everyone who bought one before that.

I must be one of those crazy fools that’s always used R1 as a trigger then since the days of FF8. The back shoulder buttons always felt more comfortable for secondary functions. Plus the instant response time of tapping R1 with my pointer finger instead of the cushioned feel of R2.
I was pretty surprised that was a complaint for him. Maybe people who played on XBox a lot since I’ve never really used one have developed other habits.
Yeah, from Resistance 1 on I could not fathom why developers kept defaulting the fire button to the horrible R2 trigger instead of the responsive and easy to reach R1 button.

I think we’re so used to R2 from previous gens/other consoles that putting it on a non-trigger feels extremely alien. I place the blame squarely on Sony’s fuckawful controller design and the terrible, terrible triggers especially. To many to be comfortable, AND a convex design that doesn’t slide but instead rotates upward. Fuck you, Sony. Fuck you.
On the upside, spending 5 dollars for some snap-on plastic makes them reasonable and it makes the level 2 triggers seem more appropriate for ANY use.
Yipes, was it really that…meandering?
Sadly, I agree with just about all of his criticisms.
Pretty much agreed.
I’ve not finished the game, but DA2 is to DAO as NWN2: Storm of Zehir is to Neverwinter Nights 2. Damn.
This review was brilliant and unfortunately entirely true.
