Yahtzee takes on Pokemon White. It’s super effective!

Hahahahaha, awesome review.

Seems about right to me. He’s pretty much describing my experience with dabbling with Pokemon Diamond.

Wow, someone other than me remembers Syndicate Wars. I so loved that game and its cutscenes.

Sure it did, your Camp was the hub. I know from a story stand point its not, but from a graphical stand point, it’s the same setpiece.

And DA1 had some side quest locations sure, but not many, the great majority of the game was the typical bioware ‘You must do these 3 things at these 3 locations before being able to move on to the main goal’. Just like KOTOR 1 and ME1.

I enjoyed this review more than any others recently, and I cant explain why. It just clicked with me.

He’s right about a lot of stuff, however the game certainly isnt ‘simple’
Sure, visually the battle systems look simple, and to get through the single player all you need is what he said.
But if you look and learn, there’s a lot more that goes into that.
Granted, none of this is intergrated into the game, so he can’t be blamed for not noticing it, and could even consider the games reluctance to challenge the deeper aspects of the game.
However, for the many people who have already dived into things like EVs and IVs, it isnt really a problem.
The review waas otherwise great though, certainly one of the funniest he’s done in a while.

The mechanics of the game are actually incredibly simple, even with IV and EV (which are laborious sure, but not complicated) and all the other competitive stuff taken into account. It’s why the entire competitive game is based around prediction (like a good game of poker) rather then anything more complex.

The mechanics are simple, but the amount of thought that can go into the game (as you said, like poker) shouldnt really be dismissed as shallow.
You also have natures, movepools, and how each movepool and type corresponds with the rest of your party.
But I guess your right.

Oh yes, simple but definitely not shallow. Simple systems are often the ones that have incredible depth, I guess people need to stop correlating the two :)

‘just because something is overly-complex and convoluted doesnt make it cool!’
‘You just dont get it cause your not smart enough’

Hi Thar!

I watched the Dragon Age 2 review and I couldn’t understand a damn thing he said because of the low-pitch “zzzrrrrr” burring of his goddamn cell phone.
For the love of audience, Ben, next time before you set about recording either turn it off or answer the damn call!

Foxstab your not funny, please stop trying to be.

Foxstab’s not funny what?

I doubt he possesses anything funny.

Why do you assume I try to be funny? I’m making a complaint here.
That goddamn burrr, for whatever reason of whatever produced it, throughout the entire second half segment of the review is disrupting my concentration/ability to enjoy the review.

Edit: Here, I went and watched through again. It starts at 03:17 and continues to buzz until the end. It drives me crazy! Took me five minutes until I realized why the fuck I have a low tone buzzing in my head. I started to think maybe I have a bug in my ear or something is wrong with my health. Maybe it’s his xbox dying whirrs. IDK. IDC. It’s screwed my joy out of his entire piece of work. :(

Truly he will regret that day he didn’t retrack the second half of Dragon Age II until his dying breath because you’re incomprehensibly anal retentive.

Well, linking a sound that was clearly not a phone, to a phone, does sound awfully like someone trying to be funny.

If you set it to vibrate on-call-reception and it’s actually lying on something it’s going to emit this kind of a sound.
I think you can try this by muting it, setting the alarm to the next minute, making sure vibration is on and put it on the desk or the keyboard tray. Then watch it ‘dance’ and buzz away.
Here’s what it usually sounds like: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mhrl11Gbx7Y
And here seems to be a really extreme case of noisy motor http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_jXOai3GRg

Foxstab is right, it’s definitely someone’s phone buzzing on vibrate while lying on a table. I just think it’s silly to react so negatively to it. Should it have been retracked? Probably. Does it really matter on a free internet video meant to make people laugh once a week? Probably not.
