And I wonder if he and his mates will do another Deus Ex song.

He disagrees with Tom Chick.
I’m surprised how little he actually said in that.
I loved his little “Ion Storm creation myth”.

But Ion Storm Dallas did bring out Anachronox.
I’m planning on playing through Deus Ex: HR spoiler free. So can I safely watch this review? Just to help you gauge my spoiler sensitivity, I was fine with the level of Deus Ex discussion about the gameplay in the latest Qt3 games podcast.

The review is on Deus Ex, not Human Revolution.
Oh pfft. Damn it, since it’s Wednesday, I thought it was this week’s new review being linked to.
Edit: Oh wait. It is. So he finally got around to reviewing the original? I see.

Yeah, it is this weeks review. A retrospective of sorts.

I have to second this, it’s one of his longer videos yet doesn’t end up saying much of anything.
I learned that he never finished System Shock 2 and thinks it was too hard. I have to admit, I only finished System Shock 2 once, despite playing through the beginning 80% of the game several times. And even that once that I beat it (the week the game launched), I remember reloading a quicksave over and over and over seemingly hundreds of times before I finally got through it. As a hacking-specialist, the game really did have a tough ending. Except for the very ending, of course, which was cake for me as a hacker.
Which is an awesome game. It’s the game that demonstrates that the problem with Japanese-style RPGs isn’t JRPGs or the cutscenes, it’s the writing. It has cutscenes that are actually worth watching for their own sake.
Well, the ending credits was a great use for A BOMB!
He doesn’t even spoil Deus Ex 1, really. It was the Seinfeld of game reviews. You’re good.
And now the part you were really waiting for, Deus Ex: Human Revolution.
Edit: His latest Extra Punctuation column also ties into Deus Ex and its role in PC gaming history.
Well, that was no big surprise.

So, day 'o sex 1 was better. We all saw it coming.

Huh. Never figured Yahtzee for a transhumanist.
I was prepared for to nit-pick his review to death, but he’s really spot-on. DEHR isn’t short, but DE is so overflowing it’s a hard act to follow. It’s still a very good game, and he does a decent job acknowledging that while touching briefly on the gaps (i.e. that worthless Hack / Analyze tree).
