“Play the game yourself if you want to know what’s going on, though I can’t guarantee that will be enough.”

Ahh, I wanna see what he says, but I’m avoiding all MGS4 information until I play the game. Though I’m sure I’ll disagree with him about the merits of the game, I’m equally sure his take is quite entertaining. I’ll have to remember to dig this up once I play it.

For someone who presumably has played the last three sequels, you seem somewhat oblivious to the (previous) characteristic of the series. :)

And ending it with “I hope i’m old before i die” as a greeting to the fanbois. Hysterical!

Auf englisch bitte?

The ‘stonker’ T-Shirt is a nice touch.

Sorry, you haven’t seen the review, so you’re excused, but his points of critique are - as most of his reviews of series and franchises - very general, meaning they apply to practically all the games in the series. Or should I say Hideo Kojima, rather. They have, after all, “deteriorated” more and more into a cutscene frenzy over the installments.

Fortunately, he doesn’t spoil anything, from what I remember, which he has done a few times before. Or at least once, with Uncharted.

I can believe it, and like I said, I’m looking forward to viewing this at some point, but I’m very anal retentive about spoilers, especially when it comes to something I’m very interested in. I know very little about MGS4 even though I’m a huge fan of the series. I’ve not watched any of the trailers except a small part of the first one and a short part of a gameplay movie, and I’ve not read any previews either. I don’t know anything about the setting, story, or even characters beyond beyond information from the previous games. I literally don’t want to know anything about the game, so even though I’m sure his comments are spoiler free in a conventional sense, I still won’t watch it.

I can relate. I’m not trying to convince or coerce you into watching it.

Oh, I know, just explaining why I decided to pass on it.

I like the image of the MGS fans quickly beating the game and rushing off to the internet to repeatedly type “OMG”. That’s the MGS4 thread on GAF in a nutshell.

I haven’t even bothered to read any of the MGS4 stuff on GAF. I figured it would just foster hatred.

It has 90-minute cutscenes. There, I just saved you some money.

These have got to be some of the funniest reviews around, i was literally laughing out loud at some parts.

“I timed how long it took from the time I pressed start new game til I actually faced my first enemy, 23 stonking minutes.”

Golly I hope they port this to PC soonest!!!

I’m hoping they port it to DVD first.

ZP probably included the install time. Lets do that with PC games and see how long it takes to go from putting the CD into the tray to facing your first enemy. :p

Install time is rarely more than 5 minutes on the PC. MMOs excepted…but the playtime is astronomical.

This has got to be pretty easy to fact-check. For those who have the game: after you install the game, how long does it take until you face the first enemy?

Except you have to hunt down patches that have to be applied. And then you’ll have to tweak the video settings in order to get that sweet frame rate.

When I installed Company of Heroes, I spent an hour on all that bullshit before I could start playing the actual game.
