PvP got really bad for a while, especially around the Brent/Jade wedding and Skull melodrama, to the point where I quit reading it for a couple of weeks. Then I came back and picked up after all that was over to see if Kurtz had gotten it out of his system. He killed a child, so I’m giving him another chance.

Actually, you know now that I think about it I wonder if Kurtz was doing that in response to the CAD miscarriage thing? At least PvP’s was kind of funny and worked in an homage to Calivin and Hobbes.

The only webcomic he mentions by name is Penny Arcade, though he is clearly targeting CAD. In fact, I cannot think off the top of my head another “videogame” webcomic that fits the cliche he described (zany main character, straightman support, and female interest). This strikes me as a poor showing by Yahtzee. If you’re going after a specific webcomic, do it by name.

Powerup Comics, although to be fair it was designed as a specific Fuck You to CAD.

So, this Tim Buckley… he’s like the Rob Liefeld of webcomics? Considering he’s enjoying a lot of success with bad art and terrible writing and has piles of people creating sites to mock him, I think the comparison is valid.

Do we know if Buckley can draw feet?

I would hesitate to call him the Liefeld. Liefeld at least takes really cool things people have done before, and just copies them. He recycles well. Not original, but at least he recycles well.

Buckley is more like the Greg Land. It’s very robotic and there’s no style or talent involved, Buckley just looks like he’s traced the previous frame over and over.

While I understand its appeal to your demographic, “Your Webcomic is Bad etc.” is about what I expected from a reviewer who is charter-bound to produce uniformly negative reviews.
