What the hell happened to the intro? Why the hell are there guitars squealing while it plays?
The credits blurb at the end suggest that he didn’t want to use other people’s copyrighted music anymore.
The guitars are terrible, though.

Also, there is a ‘bonus’ review at the end. Not an absurdely long useless ad.

Yeah, well…you’re terrible.

edit: but seriously, it’s what Yahtzee wanted. I realize it may not be everyone’s cup of tea.
Hey now, don’t run off crying.
The music itself is fine, it just seems a little out of place. Fast guitar riffs don’t provide a great lead in to Croshaw’s measured tones. Maybe something with a banjo?
I had assumed that he had final approval, in any case. It just seems a little dissonant to me.

I understand. Like I said, I know it won’t be everyone’s cup of tea. Yahtzee wanted hard rock with squealing guitars, and I provided. :)
I like the intro… I think it kinda fits for his edgy self.
I thought the musical choices he made were an integral part of his message. Tell him The Entity chastises him for his change of heart, but that no crime was committed.
He will have forgiveness.
Eventually.
hmmm I wonder if his music choices were a huge part as to why I liked his animated shorts? I didn’t like the cartoon as much.
Shark=jumped!
Well, no, but his extremely amusing musical choices always added a little extra something to me, and I shall mourn the passing.
Yeah, the music was definitely a part of the experience. The whole thing seems sort of tired now, to be honest, and I generally find myself watching out of habit more than anything else. I rarely get a good laugh anymore.
I never got a solid laugh from ZP so much as a good chuckle, but at four minutes per week it doesn’t get old. Losing the music took something away from the whole thing but really, you can’t blindly use commercial music and post ads around the whole thing and seriously hope not to get your ass sued.

It’s important that he reviews games that you’ve played. It’s better when you can relate to the same issues that he had in popular games. Kind of sucks in the summer months when he reviews niche titles, or games that many people seem to have skipped (Haze). He will have many to choose from once the fall/winter rolls around.

oh, sorry, didn’t see you there.
Anyway, the new intro makes the whole thing a tiny bit duller. The old music was part of the cartoon, this isn’t. The music was one of the pieces that made ZP great. Not the most critical piece, but you can tell it’s missing. The intro music is not bad as such, it’s just generic and ultimately forgettable. Yahtzee would probably have done better with something a bit more low-key focusing on an actual melody. Atleast then it could be an audio cue associated with ZP whenever it was heard.

I loved the new music. Sure the old stuff tied in nicely, but heck, what’s not to like about edgy guitars and deep drum thumping?

All of you who are dissing Podunk’s intro are cocksucking dipshits.
My first reaction to hearing it was, “Hey, this is different; ungh fear change” because of course I’ve been programmed to try and figure out the tie-in between the song and the game. Then it changed to, “Hey, at least they picked music that is ACTUALLY GOOD.” And then I saw the credit and I was like, “Of course! I shoulda known.”
There is nothing in existence that could not be immediately and dramatically improved by Podunk Rock. Except for possibly egg salad, because nothing can make egg salad edible and YES I AM A PODUNK FANBOI I WAN TO HAVE HIS BABIEEEZZ

Yeah I didn’t mind the new music. Yeah him using commercial stuff was cool because it fit with the theme but I could see why he wanted to stop.

Thanks Rimbo, I knew you’d have my back.
