I Participate in the Podunk Parade. Perhaps more Profitable Pretenses for his Performance may be Pleasing and Pertinent.

Eh, using less than 10 seconds of music to make a gag is about as fair use as you get. His note during the credits makes it sound like he just didn’t want to do it any more. I’m kinda bummed, as his use of music was probably the most consistently entertaining part of the show.

I quite liked the guitar riff myself.

Seriously, the skit is less interesting now because the 5 seconds of music that plays before it is different? Get a grip.

Why? I don’t really mind either way, but of course something that sets the mood is going to affect enjoyment of what comes afterwards.

It sets the mood, but to have an increasingly adverse opinion of ZP because you didn’t like the intro music is odd and feels like just trying to look for something to complain about, since the intro isn’t the point.

It’d be similar to disliking a movie like There Will Be Blood because you felt the intro music was screechy and annoying.

Kareem doesn’t believe in foreplay.

Again, why? If I went into the movie being annoyed by the irritating theme music, it’d take time to pull my attention back to the good stuff. Every bit as much as having the Star Wars theme play gets me all revved up for the movie. ZP is short, which makes everything that much more important. I’m not saying I agree, but it’s certainly not a ridiculous reason for someone to make.

Eh, using less than 10 seconds of music to make a gag is about as fair use as you get.

It’s really not. Fair use is built around criticism and review of the item being borrowed, and more importantly, it’s only a defence, not justification or permission. If the judge doesn’t agree with your interpretation of the fair use/fair dealing rules (and they wouldn’t in the case of ZP, where it’s being used for commercial purposes, not in any way related to the public interest, taking what could be seen as a major part - which has nothing to do with the amount in terms of seconds, and otherwise not living up to any of the criteria), your ass is on the line.

Put me down in the “the new intro music is much better” camp. His musical jokes were always really lame, and what’s more he usually picked music I hated in the first place in order to make his jokes. At least now we have a pretty good short musical motif which will become associated with “Yahtzee” in my mind. Huzzah!

The music did have an actual melody. What you mean to say is “Yahtzee would probably have done better with music that’s closer to my personal preference in music.”

I have nothing against the new music itself, but I thought the old way gave each review it’s own extra flavor and I will miss it.

I can hear where he’s coming from. The full version of the piece is about 1:06 long and has a more melodic chorus section to contrast with the harsh angularity of that main riff. The extended version makes a little more musical sense to me, so I hope they’ll put it out as a separate download at some point (or give me permission to do it). It was a real challenge to try to put together a coherent musical statement in that style that would stand by itself in 12 and 19 second chunks.

I don’t have anything against loud guitar riffs and drums, no matter how defensive you might be of your personal music preference, but they don’t make for clear and easy-to-distinguish melodies.

Seconded.

“GeorgeFranchiseKillerLucas” heh heh heh

Umm… those loud guitar riffs are a melody. A simple melody, but a melody nonetheless.

BTW… hard rock is definitely not my musical preference. I like it well enough, but I prefer classical & electronica.

Edit - Nevermind. I just figured out that you meant something more like “a fully fleshed out melodic theme”.

I like it.
I liked the old music better, because he could use that for a punchline too, but I was always surprised he got away with it, since it was clearly never fair use.

But that’s …

…but it…

…egh… gheh…

…oh.

Bloody hell.

Same.

bingo… same here. I did like the guitar rift at the start… but when I read at the end how he won’t be selecting music shorts as an intro/outplay I was a bit bummed.

His making (even a cheesy) connection between a game and a song or two was really an amusing part of his video.

I’m glad it works for some of you. I like it, but I’ve also had a while to get used to it.

Believe me, I had some reservations about being the guy whose music was going to replace Yahtzee’s ironic hand-picked music selections.

Music and crap aside, that was one of the funniest ones in a long ass time!

Imp Justice made me laugh, as did the giant cock of The Adversary.

This one felt like he was having fun.

I liked the music :)
