Star Trek V?

B/C although I love me some Trek and I love the Shat, that movie was a mess and Shatner needs to stick to acting not directing. Perhaps you meant IV?

On the other hand, if you, as an intelligent adult, enjoy the V, I guess, OK THEN.

Yes, I love Star Trek V as well. I make no claims to intelligence but I do say the movie has its upsides. And I tire of the endless negativity, and choose to enjoy what I got rather than rage about what might have been.

I also love Star Trek V. It’s got a lot of bad parts, but I still love it for being the movie that focused on the friendship between Spock, Bones and Kirk. Now that I’ve seen all the TOS episodes, and all the Animated Series episodes, I’ve come to realize that this focus on their friendship was actually a rare thing in Star Trek.

You know I have not seen Star Trek V in 30 years, so perhaps when we get to it I shall be illuminated. That’s the great thing about re-watches like this.

I had to look it up. “Oh… it’s that one.”

Yes, the movie with the most famous line in all of original Star Trek.

“What does God need with a starship?”

I’m down with doing one a week.

So are we talking ALL Star Trek movies, or only those with TOS cast? Cause I’m not sure I am ready for dune buggies yet.

I think only the TOS movies up to Star Trek VI: Undiscovered Country.

If we want to watch past that, it should be part of a theoretical future rewatch of TNG the series first, and then the movies. Right?

That sounds right to me.

Agreed - I consider Star Trek TPM through Star Trek VI to be the “Old Trek Movies” which is what we should watch. Movies after that can be part of a different rewatch if folks want to do that.

I’m in then!

Sounds good. And I’m all for not including Generations. :)

Or not, you could opt not to watch them too.

Aside from First Contact which I will absolutely defend.

Happy 90th birthday to William Shatner!

A pretty good look back at Kirk.

Sorry I didn’t see that Brian had posted this in the YouTube thread

“I began to understand that they were doing it for publicity,” Shatner told The Times UK about his co-stars slamming him. “Sixty years after some incident they are still on that track. Don’t you think that’s a little weird? It’s like a sickness. George has never stopped blackening my name. These people are bitter and embittered. I have run out of patience with them. Why give credence to people consumed by envy and hate?”
