WHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!
What a fantastic series, and a fantastic game 7: 11 innings, Pedro pitching great for the early game, Mariano Rivera pitching 3 innings at the end there, Aaron Boone of all people getting the winning home run.
Wow.

Wow.
Ouch. A fan just put up a sign that reads: “Who’s curse is worse?” With the Cubs symbol on one side and the Red Sox symbol on the other.
Wow, yeah, never in my lifetime did I ever think I’d see the Yankees in the World Series! The good news is that I suddenly have a lot more TV time free… What to do, what to do.
Fuck.
I really wanted to see Yanks - Cubs in the World Series, but if the Cubs couldn’t make it, the Sox shouldn’t either. All is right in the world.
yeah the Yankees know how to buy a winning team. I give them credit in being aggresive on the free agency market. and at the same time having a fertile farm system… there friggin evil.
Now we have to root for the Marlins with Jack MeKeon picked to manage a team that wasn’t even expected to play .500 ball.
Just a game folks.
etc
I just realized that the Yanks-Sox game fell apart for the Sox in the 8th inning, just as they were cruising into victory with a 3-run lead. The Cubs were cruising into victory with a 3-run lead in game 6 when it all fell apart for them in the 8th inning.
Truly, the Baseball Gods can be terrible and cruel.
The Yankees have waited four long years to win the World Series AGAIN. They deserve it.
GO MARLINS YOU STUPID ASS TEAM WITH A DUMB NAME!
etc
No joke, I almost didn’t want that game to end. It was ridiculously intense and fun to watch.
Something tells me that Rivera is back to being the absolutely unhittable Rivera of old. Maybe I’m wrong, but that guy is damn scary right about now. I like the Marlins a lot, but I don’t like their chances as much.
As anticlimactic as the World Series will be, after two absolutely incredible League Championship Series’, this does lend a sense of validity to the whole “curse” thing with the Red Sox and Cubs.
It’s called the curse of “My ace pitcher is OK to pitch a few more”.
etc
I hate the yankees, but nowhere near how much I hate pedro. So it was all worth it just to see pedro almost start crying.
My prediction. Lowest rated series ever.
Chet
Awl, Chet, did Pedro smoke your little Indians or something? I’d think someone that picks fights with old people would be your hero.
Anyway, calling managers Baker and Little, watch Joe Torre as he REMOVES HIS STARTER IN THE 4TH BECAUSE HE WAS GETTING HIT IN A GAME 7. There is no tomorrow, so why stretch your ace? 115-120 pitches, in a tense game where he’s probably exerting more energy per pitch than normal, is a lot. Too much, in fact.
Just as Baker should have yanked Prior, Little should have pulled Pedro after the first hit in the 8th. Both managers blew it and probably cost their teams the series’. You need fresh arms at the end of a game. Sheesh.
And then Little pulls Varitek for Mirabelli to catch Wakefield. Yeah, the knuckler sucks, but you needed a BAT to win in extra innings. I’d risk the passed ball so that Varitek gets that at-bat against Rivera in the 11th.
And could Fox be any more annoying showing more Bret Boone reaction than Aaron Boone? C’mon, that’s just lame. I hate Fox.
I hate Brenneman more than I hate the Marlins. And Pedro was pretty cool on the Expos.
etc
Jesus, he’s his fucking brother. His brother Aaron just hit a walk-off home run against the hated Red Sox team to win the American League pennant, but the familial reaction is totally out-of-bounds because … what reason again? The Founding Fathers guaranteed justice to all sportscasters who should remain neutral no matter what their relation to the game-winning hero? I thought Bret Boone did a great job of staying calm and not showing too much emotion. Sports is all about emotion. I’m sorry that nobody came out with a chalkboard to demonstrate the empirical reason that the Yankees defeated the Red Sox using the scientific method.
You just hate Fox because you hate America. Bitch.
Not to defend Fox here, but I got a laugh out of seeing the super cool reaction from Brett. Maybe he was just trying to keep it low, but it looked a little too cool for me, as if he’d never hear the end of it come Thanksgiving dinner. heh.
Whew. Got a little nervous here as I was watching. :D
Fuck the Yankees. Fuck Fox. Die die die! Go Fish!
Fire Grady.
Fuck Pedro for not thinking of the team and not his ego.
Next year.
Can’t wait until I don’t have to say that anymore. :?
As for TV- Fox in the first inning was awesome…prolly cuz they didn’t say a thing :D
Great series.
I’m with you, Rob. It was a tearjerker for sure. Right after Pedro decided to stay on in the 8th, the tissue box came out at the Cook household. It was a fine game, though. Sniff.
