Don’t you denigrate my Chykxen Wyngz!

Pop Quiz, are these cauliflower made to taste like chicken strips or chicken strips coated in cauliflower coating?

(I mean, it says the answer on the bag, but I know it has confused a few people in my life)

I’m guessing it’s much more rice flour than cauliflower. If they want a crisp coating.

It basically is, and not terrible for a gluten free coating.

But I had two different people stop me to ask “does it actually taste like chicken?” and they looked disappointed when I said “it is chicken, so yes”

No. It tastes like frog legs. :P

Which do taste a bit like chicken.

“The concept is quite simple. Pepperoni brings a smokey spiciness and the Pepsi adds a citrusy sweetness,” David Kamen, Director of Client Experience for CIA Consulting offered in a press release. “It’s an intriguing combination we think pizza fans will be excited to try.”

Not only will the specially-crafted pepperoni carry similar caramel and cola notes of Pepsi, but it’ll be shaped like the brand’s circle logo as well.

I can’t eat pork, so I’m hoping they put out a turkey pepperoni version that I can try.

Honestly, cola can actually do some real good stuff when used right. I remember seeing Morimoto use coke to cook up some stuff (I think it was actually Natto) way back in the day on Iron Chef.

I get that but

eh probably won’t be too bad

you already get a wide variety of pepperoni flavors based on the specific spices involved

I’ve posted a carnitas recipe that used coke + OJ in the final stage. It’s gooood.

Yeah, Coke/soda isn’t that uncommon of an marinade ingredient for meats. As the post put, you can think of it as adding combined sugar and acid in a marinade, both of which are very commonly added separately. You also get the coloring as an added bonus to help your browning (which is why many recipes use Coke rather than say 7-up).

For what it’s worth, I looked like that poor doggy when I tried to order a pepperoni pizza in Italy. What I know now is that they know what we’re talking about, there is no real 1-to-1 on that as a pizza topping, but they take you literally, as the closest thing matching that word is a bell pepper pizza. And that’s just straight up nasty.

You can get meat on pizzas, but it’s not the same, at all. We are the masters of meat on pizza, as it should be.

Yep, I’ve also learned that Americans are all about bacon on and with everything!
Though I’m still a little vague on this “peperoni salami” that appears to be so prevalent over there and hardly anywhere else. I gather its just a spicy salami?

Maybe heresy to other Americans here, but bacon on pizza is entirely overrated. So many better toppings exist.

I suspect I would disappoint two of you knowing that I’m having a deep dish Lil C’s pizza with bacon, bell pepper, olives, and mushrooms right NOW

Bacon pizza is straightforward. Cook the bacon. Eat it as a snack while you cook the pizza.
