Time for Islamic Law in Iraq!

Brett, have you gone insane?

In the US, we have the religion of “Anti Terrorism.” All freedoms are optional in the name of “Security.”

What?[/quote]

headscarves, of all things. my word, when you take it out of context like this, it just sounds idiotic.

A little thing or two, here, because you seem minsinformed (and I don’t mean that the bad way) :

  • headscarves are banned (this is the project of the law, anyways, which still causes quite a stir) in public school - period, women are perfectly allowed to wear headscarves everywhere else

  • only very visible (I don’t know the exact word in english, sorry) headscarves are prohibited, the law doesn’t forbid onesekf to wear a small and discreet sign of religion

  • there have been issues with headscarves for a long time, most of which resolved quite easily and without problems, but some thought a law had to be made, so there it is.

As for my opinion on this, I don’t have any, I’m still puzzled by the whole thing, should we or should we not ban it, I’m not sure. The public school has to be a sanctuary, as some have said, and I remember quite clearly while I was a youngster than wearing crucifixes at school was forbidden. Now no one can serioulsy accuse our contry of being repressive with Christians, can they ?

Plus, as some Muslim women have said many times, some women are still fighting in their countries for the right not to wear a burka and to be free, it appears a little strange to them seeing young children of a democratic and western country like ours fighting for the right to wear a headscarf…

Well, I guess I have an opinion after all…

Y’know, I never thought it sounded very good in context Tim.

And your point is…?

The old testament (Leviticus especially) is chock-full of rules about women and many other things that are no longer followed or even widely known. It seems to me that all Islam really needs is the same righteous political bitch-slapping that was applied to Judaism and Catholicism…

And that’s just a matter of time… You just need to raise a generation of children with wonderfully decadent western values that crave their porn and rock and roll and it’s all over…

A sobering read.

Seems very similar to what we read over here, before the headscarf jihad started up again.

As soon as France bans the yamulka and the crucifix, I’m all for it…

They did.

Only large crucifixes, wasn’t it?

mea culpa!
