Pre-patch Typhon was awesome, I loved how blowing up his statues took away his special attacks. Currently he is almost impossible for most builds unless they get really gear-lucky or farm (or have the patience of an elder god and are willing to run around in circles for over an hour).
EDIT: Although I’ve never used scrolls on him before, maybe they would help, hmm.
So… you’re saying that I might have some trouble with the xmax triple-Typhon once I get that far?
You’ll be over-levelled so you’ll have as much trouble as a regular person would have with regular Typhon. Just focus on one at a time.
Ignoring any number of elites who could kill in a mere moment, I assume? I’m not talking about iron maidens + stupidity or poppers or anything. I’m talking about the really nasty boss attribute combos you could bump into in NM (somewhat) and Hell (especially). There are places in hell you pretty much had to avoid (circa 1.09/1/1.10) simply because you couldn’t afford the chance that some sort of absurd (FE Spectral blah blah) frenzytaur boss and his merry frenzytaurs that would be spawned right at th entrance of a sub-area. There’s no decoy, valkrie, mercenary, etc. You entered one of those places and your hardcore character was dead before the screen had finished refreshing itself.
At least you can run from the dude in titan quest.
Paths is quite deep. (it’s a mod available at titanquest.net)
Bumping this thread because the game is on sale on Steam today.
For some reason, if there’s anyone out there that doesn’t own it (been on sale like a bazillion times), I still haven’t got around to playing it. So if anyone’s just bought it and is looking for a Co-op buddy just let me know.

The game is a good fun co-op game, definitely, though the host should have a good upstream connection.

Coincidence? The same day Titan Quest goes on sale, the guys at Crate (creators of Titan Quest) release their first video of Grim Dawn.
Also, anyone picking up Titan Quest should be sure to look for the fanpatch also - http://www.titanquest.net/tq-forum/forums/65-Bugfix-Fanpatch

I assume coincidence, since AFAIK Crate Entertainment is an entirely separate entity unrelated legally to Iron Lore, although composed of Iron Lore veterans.
Here’s a direct link to the new Grim Dawn video. Not much there, although it does confirm that Grim Dawn looks great, which is no surprise, since IMO Titan Quest was a great looking game.
I hope these guys can pull this off. I had a lot of fun with TQ, and I really like the setting for Grim Dawn. My pre-order is already in :-)

I should really throw in a pre-order for them as well. I have no doubt that the game is going to play better than D3, in the same way I felt TQ played better than D2.

Edit: Beaten, damn it!
Not much to look at but what’s there is nice.
That it’s pre-alpha footage and they’re showing so little of it is worrying. I probably have more time in TQ/IT than any other two games combined but if Grim Dawn isn’t out before Diablo 3, I’ll probably skip it. Especially if they haven’t fixed the rubberbanding that is so problematic in the engine.

Yeah they have a tough time frame to nail here. TQ coming out so late after D2 gave everyone something fresh to play. Within one year would be the time to release a polished ARPG.

I don’t think Grim Dawn will be out before Diablo 3. I personally don’t care, I happily sent the guys some money because of the entertainment value I got from Titan Quest hardly corresponded with the amount of money I spent on the game (purchased full blown legendary edition).
Apparently the rubber banding which was problematic in Titan Quest appears to have been resolved in Grim Dawn. However, that is based only on local testing within the Crate offices/garage/wherever they are developing. I am guessing it will be a while before even an alpha release is ready and the true test of its resolution is decided.
The forums over there have threads created on whether Torchlight 2 will impact on Grim Dawn’s sales. I think discussion about Diablo 3 also went much the same way. That’s a hard one to answer. Speculation is shit.

I got it but never got to play it much.

Thanks, never got the game. I just rectified that.
Sometimes I’m all like, “Hey, this Pogo fella, he’s not completely insane.” And then this happens.
Okay, now that the snark is out of the way, I’m curious: how did you feel TQ played better than D2? I mean, I like TQ quite a lot, and there are several things it does better than D2. But the cooldowns-on-everything design coupled with the fact that you only ever used 3-4 skills ever because of the way the skill trees were designed make the moment-to-moment gameplay significantly inferior to D2. Not to mention the mob design that prevents much of the positional gameplay that makes D2 interesting on a tactical level.

I always thought it felt more solid to play. I don’t really feel like going into the technical differences between the two, I preferred TQ.

I have the gold edition that I picked up for a tenner, but my computer can’t run it.
Someday, but not this year.
I agree with Pogo. TQ was way better than D2, after playing TQ I couldn’t stomach D2 for more than a couple of hours before I just wanted to go back and play TQ some more to satisfy the same itch (loot and character progression).
