FYI, I didn’t actually mess with any settings to see if that helped. I don’t think it would bother the vast majority of people.

I’ve seen people reporting various problems, but most of them were fixed by enabling VSYNC.

The main one reported is that ragdolling doesn’t work if you turn off vsync.

I wonder if anyone has figured out how overpowered brigands really are yet… When I was doing QA for this, I figured out a piercing build, and how to ladder on some gear, that allowed me to 2 shot legendary Typhon :P

Even if you don’t do the gear trick, piercing is highly exploitable in TQ if you build right. Even after a billion hours in this, I may actually fire it up.

I don’t think there are tons of people having issues getting it to run, btw. I went through the Steam forums last night when looking for fixes and there were maybe 5-8 threads out of 300 or so on launch issues. I have also had issues getting TQ and IT to run in years gone by, so it could be something specific to my setup - particularly multi-monitors - I don’t think it likes my triple set up, even though I only game on the primary. The last thing I was going to try was a single monitor profile before launching, but it seems to be working now, so I’ll leave it alone and just enjoy the game (touch wood).

I can start the game, but I can’t get a mouse cursor. Too bad, I used to really love this game.

Thanks for the link, bizarrely, setting the game to Windows 98 compatibility mode fixes the mouse cursor issue. There’s more issues now in that I have to alt-tab and use the task manager to close the game when I’m finished, but at least I can play it.

So, now that poison is linked to dexterity, I might have some fun with a Briar Ward Illusionist. It’ll be a tower defense game. Rogue Traps and a nymph surrounded by a briar ward that poisons people. I wonder if that would even work?

I takes me a while to get going with a character, because I have to explore every nook and cranny, so once I’m invested in a build I tend to stick with it. This time I’m going with Dream mastery. That turns you into a Seer, which brings to mind an old wizened guy with a long beard, but actually it’s really quite melee-focussed. I’m not doing as much damage as a pure melee build per hit, except that every few hits I get a massive damage bonus which is enough to launch whatever I’m attacking clean off the screen! I’ve also got a magical attack that can pop an entire line of things heading my way, so I’m pretty happy with it so far. Still, I get into quite a few pickles, although I’ve only died once so far. I remember now that feeling where you’re surrounded, you hear the “low health” gong (never bettered than in this game), pop a health potion, then hear the health gong again after a couple of seconds, and realise your potion cooldown is still running. Tense moments.

Every so often I’ll come up against an epic monster which takes some serious whittling down, and before I level up I find that I fall below the power curve and start to struggle… but then that new level pops up and I start kicking ass again. Perhaps the Warrior mastery is a good partnership with Dream…

When I did my Dream playthrough, I didn’t choose a secondary until the next difficulty – it was that powerful. I wonder whether it’s been nerfed.

I read somewhere that it had… a little, but it’s still quite potent.

I have TQ on CDs … somewhere … but $5 well worth the price of buying it again.
Funny thing is as much I enjoyed playing this I don’t remember anything. Can’t even recall which builds I tried.

I’m enjoying this a lot more than I did Grim Dawn, to be honest. Not that Grim Dawn is bad, but it didn’t quite get its hooks into me for some reason. I need to revisit it, but perhaps it has something to do with melee being so damn satisfying in TQ. Or rather, melee enhanced with some interesting casting.

I admit I haven’t found / tried the game speed option that @sharaleo mentions, but then I prefer the slower pace anyway. Now that I’m lighting the screen up like the 4th of July during combat, I don’t think I need it happening any faster.

I played this back in the day and enjoyed it quite a bit. But you guys seem to have the skill trees and specializations memorize as far as builds go. Are you guys using the Google to find builds that work? Or did you all play it so much that the skill trees are still ingrained in your memories?

Any chance the anniversary edition added support for 21:9 resolutions? Googling came up empty.

I never do anything so efficient. I just review each skill tree as I go and make the choice that seems best, whether or not it actually is. ;) I usually play with Storm mastery in combo with something else like Warfare, because I like to have a strong all-round (melee plus range / spells) character. I’ve dabbled in the others but I prefer the more hands-on skills rather than pets and traps. This is the first time I’ve played Dream (I have Immortal Throne but I’ve just not tried this one before).

My Googling was more successful. Yes, it does (and it looks quite nice from what I can see) but the UI requires a magnifying glass.

I think it’s mighty impressive that I installed TQ’s Anniversary Edition without having had TQ installed from the CDs for years and not only does it work perfectly on Windows 10, every one of my 45 characters is intact and ready to be played from where they left off, even though they’ve been transferred from other OSes and moved around different drives. It’ll take some getting used to again, but it feels good having it available.

That, is by far, my favorite build. I think warfare + dream is an awesome combo. I just have to force myself to not pick those masteries whenever I play TQ.

Hmmm, tempting. Trouble is, I really, really want to keep adding point to Dream, and if I start going with Warfare as well then I’ll have even more trouble deciding where to put my meager three points! But thanks, I think you have made my mind up.
