Not really sure any can unless maybe a Defender that has tons of defense. My melee berserker (Dreamer/Warrior spec’d out for AOE/dual wield) had to use hit and run tactics to kill Typhon: warp in, slam an aoe, then run away and chug potions before he reacted. Took about 5 minutes of that.

Ah, thanks Chris. I look for game files in the main game directory, which is where I usually find them. It always surprises me when they’re elsewhere.

Not to brag, but my Conquerer did. When I saw him doing the meteor animation I moved out of the way; the rest of the time I just stood there and beat on him. The various builds show their differences most in boss fights–most everything else dies too fast to really see what’s a tank and what isn’t.

Queasy Nart can but I’ve got to keep moving. The usual path is to get to top of the ramp and B line towards the top and come around on his side when he get’s locked into a fire breath animation. Drop flag and summon spirits hit him a few times with onslaught so the bonuses start taking effect and start running around him in a clockwise manner. The 2 tricks are to first off not run straigh at him ever unless he is locked in an animation for attacking in a direction your not coming from, and to not wait for him to act before you react always assume that he is about to attack after 2 quick shots and be moving another quarter of the way around him.

I just paid $31 for TQ + Immortal Throne at Circuit City.

Awww yeah.

FWIW, my game’s always called “Maximus’s Epic Act blah blah” :) I’ll see about changing it to Maximus-Geo, or Max’s Quarter to Three.

I guess I usually am playing around 7:30-midnight, Eastern time.

For now it’s usually Epic, and with Auto Party set “on.” I prefer to do quests, stick together and while I’m no slowpoke, I tend not to rush like mad.

I didn’t realize so many people here play. I’d be glad to set up a 3 or 4 player game and give it a password related to here – maybe “quarter” or “three” or something :) Maximus is 46 now. I’ve got a 30 archer type with some broken quests (MP mess). Beyond that I’ve stopped my “alt-itis,” as I’d rather stick with one or two and get them to Legendary difficulty some day. :)

I’d love also to get some help on that nasty Manticore boss I mentioned earlier. I don’t even know if he’s worth bothering with - I’m just mad at him. :D It takes too long to hoof it back down there, so he’s all healed by the time I return from rezzing (there aren’t any rebirth fountains in the windswept caves, afik).

This game is seriously hurting my right wrist. I can’t really explain it. The Diablo games hurt my Mouse but certainly not my wrist like this. Maybe it’s a melee type thing…

I could host or play some games tonight. I usually name my games qt3 with the password the same. My assassin is I think 51 right now.

I’ve been playing this through too, though just my first character in single player. I’m maybe halfway through Act II, no idea how far that is through the whole game. Dream / Nature – those AOE attacks are crazy good but mostly I’m treating it as a melee build with pets.

If I play in MP with this character am I screwing up my SP experience?

I’ll be on for alittle bit now with my templar on normal.

After fighting it for two weeks, I picked this plus the expansion today. I’ve been itching to play something that isn’t WoW or Sim City 4.

I’m going to put an Epic game up shortly just for folks here. If nobody joins, that’s OK too. :) But if you join, please don’t skip two acts ahead of me (I’ll ban your butt back to the stone age). My Conqueror’s 46 and is bumbling around the middle desert levels of Act 2.

Let’s see, I’ll call it something like:

Geo-Quarter2Three-Act2

Password will be:

chick [as in Tom Chick] :)

I usually set it to be +/- 5 levels from Maximus (41-51 at this point).

Keep in mind if you don’t include password protected games in your game browser search, you won’t see it. I usually set auto-party on, but I reserve the right to kick out “smacktards” or whatever insulting term people use these days. :)

Well, I’m nearly done with Rhodos and Epirus, and those stupid undead refused to drop any spectral matter whatsoever. I hope the Hades dwellers are more generous with their unclean residues.

By the way, what’s everyone’s take on the Nightmare pet? The winged eye is cute and all, and it’s been very helpful for most of Normal, but with 6 points it’s already getting very fragile in Act V. Basically every single AoE attack kills it, and the skill takes a looong time to recharge. Putting in more points doesn’t seem to help its HP and defense all that much, so I’m thinking about buying back those points and putting them elsewhere. Is the one pure magical attack in the Dream mastery any good?

With most pets it get’s to a point where they just aren’t worth having around as a reliable tool. WOlves in nature get taken out really quickly but I keep one around on defensive cause it will still use it’s abilities the same is true for the nightmare the aura it provides does affect you so +% damage +regen is worth keeping around. Just don’t expect them to be able to last past an attack or 2 or act as anything more then a decoy for taking that first frontload of damage on a boss. In epic and legendary they (pets) do recieve a boost in effectiveness making them worth having again but other spells will usually be more effective in later acts anyway.

I’m only level 6, but, uh, Dream Mastery seems pretty damn strong compared to the Battlemage type deal I played when the game originally came out. I mean, shit, the lowest tier of skills gives you a great melee buff and a long range AoE + snare attack.

Jeez.

They do? That’s cool, I wasn’t aware of that. Regular skills don’t get a boost, though, or do they?

Just spent a hour of farming for relics, and I did find one greater artifact on epic that is used for a divine. Kingsmaker. What I really need now are 2 archmedies mirrors epic version. I do have alot of relics and charms that I’m not using on any diff level I could trade with .

I still need four Spectral Matters. I can’t believe that I’m halfway through Hades and still didn’t get a single drop of Spectral Matter! What’s up with ghosts these days?

Last night I ran thru Act 1 in an attempt to get archmedie’s mirrors, only one dropped.

I have a few Arch Mirrors, I think one complete. Do you mean the normal or Epic variation?

At 48 Maximus has a couple points in the Ancestral Horn summons – I don’t know if people consider that kind of thing a pet. It’s pretty useful, but what’s annoying is they tend to run off after the Weakest enemy in the area. So if I summon them to help with a nasty boss, the first thing they’ll do is race over to some wimpy monster well away from it. :p Meanwhile I’m left yelling “HEY! Help me with MANTICORE you IDIOTS!” :D
