Case - we went with the original spelling for my daughter’s middle name as well. She is doomed to have it written and spelled incorrectly for the rest of her life:

Mary Alison :)

My mother’s name is Dianne. Instead of Diane. The reason is Catholic, you had to have a Saint or Biblical name. So, Anne had to be incorporated to make it legit. I believe the Catholics are passed this now but, man o’ man, even professional who print wedding invitations can still get it wrong.

After having to endure my “mispelled” first name, we gave our older daughter a middle name: Hillary.

You may note that it’s spelled with two L’s. No, it’s not the missing L from my first name. Her middle name is after Sir Edmund Hillary, the first human known to have climbed Everest. But that’s not the traditional spelling of the girl’s name Hilary.
